I wanted to express my opinion, and share some of my experience in regards to this two commodities.

Let me start with Raw Hydrocarbon, specifically when it is mined in T-29. I finally had a chance to do some mining as Kishiro in the east mining field, I did it with the all mighty Surveyor, the drop rate was perfect, not to much not too little. However the density of the field is pretty low. And it has taken a pretty long time to fill up transports. I have experienced shooting rocks with quite a few more mine-able commodities, and in comparison i would say the density should be par with other commodities.

I would like to request the developers to increase the density of the east Raw Hydrocarbon field in T-29 to bring it on par with other mine fields. Therefore increase the zones attractiveness.

Before the "forum love & compassion" missiles launched, let me counter it with some reasons and justifications.

RP reason is that Kishiro's technology manufacturing requires a large supply of necessary ingredients, and should have good supply of such, and Raw Hydrocabon is refined and processed for that purpose. That is why Nago is at that location.

Out of RP reason is that i would like to increase the player activity, and player interaction in that area, and consequentially elsewhere as well. It is close enough to the T 23 activity hub, so player that prefer operating in that region could easily hop over and take part in the interaction.I am planing to construct a PoB there, far enough from the minefield so it wont be any different distance as Nago already, which would attract transports, solo miners, their escorts, and folks who want to shoot or RP with all of these mentioned. It offers a wide range of opportunities for interaction. The few i can think of as examples:
-Kishiro and Samura share the region, and could contend for resources. Both factions could use activity...
-Evident, but still should be mentioned that pirates could seek their daily bread there as well, and being so close to T-23 it would serve them with more prey.
-Factions that operate in that area and could benefit from activity such as Exiles, so they can take their revenge on the corporation, Outcasts that can come and shoot the miners or their escorts (preferably the escort... Big Grin ) as they are high on Cardamine and controlled by ALIENS!?! and they don't even know...Gaus could show up, well... to be Gaus... Marauders would have more innocent civilians that they can maraude with...
-This also could attract the faction like BHG that can operate there to hunt em bad guys, Kusari Naval forces could show up and disperse any sort of madness, or even participants in the Bretonia/Gallia conflict could peak in to show some love and compassion to each other...

I am sure there is more, but thats what i was able to think of as of now.

And regarding to Helium-3, i am not speaking behalf of GMG, but wanted to share my experience. I feel that the Helium-3 mining could use some quality of life improvements, perhaps wider radius for the mine field, and more dense "rocks" ore Helium bubble-ey thingies.... Not to over buff it, but bring it in balance with other mine-able commodities. As i would like to increase Kishiro's faction activity, i would love to see more GMG folks to partner up with and have some Operations together, i would love to be able to interact in-game with them more, and generate activity the similar way as i described above.

As well all know deep inside, that mining ore, and transport it for high profit - high risk generates a lot of activity, even i would dare to say, the most activity in disco. Even though people participate in a wide variety of activities, a lot of folks have they mining/transporting logistics to make some revenue so they can do other stuff... I sure don't want to shoot rocks all day, and stare at the behind of my transport ship, i want to do a run or two a day, generate some income, than log something else to RP, pew, or explore with. I think it is a healthy process.
I'd certainly love seeing Raw Hydrocarbons get some love. They're the best hydrocarbons.

I'd like to bring up some other points about it: the sell point in Nuremberg is bewilderingly low, and I have no idea why since unless I'm mistaken, there are no fields closer than Omega-3 and Tau-29.
It's barely shorter than the Niobium run to New Berlin, and much longer than the higher priced Cambridge-NB Beryllium run. So obviously, nobody's going to do that.

Also, the field in O-3 is very poor, despite not being closer to a high sell point than is typical for an ore.
All this means that there's only one way to do Raw Hydrocarbons, and that's in the western Tau-29 field, taking them to Pittsburgh.

Now Helium-3 is just bad in general. Very slow mining, meh-tier prices despite long routes.

I'm going to do some tests for numbers.
I too would like to see a hydrocarbon boost for the reasons pointed out above from the Kusari perspective; but also from the Bretonnian perspective. I do believe the ideas and points are transferable across the two regions (albeit with differing details).

The O-3 Hydrocarbon field is an extremely risky field in which to operate. It is located close to the O-5 jumphole with Cadiz close on the other side thus being in scannable range of normal pirate traffic. It also has a relatively low density and comparatively low drop-rate to other Bretonnian ores making any operations there take longer. As such from a miner/trader point of view it is uneconomic to mine as funds need to be spent on security in order to just attract transports (not an issue of itself as long as there is a net balance).

The pirate side of any mining operation is just as important for activity and general enjoyment however; afterall fun comes from risk, no? As such, there is a need for balance in order to achieve enjoyment for both sides of the equation. However, at this moment in time, that particular field is not balanced enough on the miner/trader side to attract activity.

With the new ID changes there are intriguing opportunities presented for combined operations with Corps (BMM in mind), Hunters, Freelance escorts and such. It would also make an interesting focal point for potential Corsair raids where there is a player created objective to defend an operation... actually that leads to an idea. If the admins/devs would be interested, perhaps this could be an event where the density of such fields could be temporarily increased for a particular period; and events could be organised around these temporary boosts. Food for thought.
As this has quickly turned into a "report mining problems" thread, and as my posting also identifies the reason for "a field being bad" I'll throw another broken thing in:

Berryllium in T23 is borked.

I did a lot of tests that show that the rocks ...
> very often do not give you any ore (shoot rock => 0 ore gathered)
> otherwise have normal drop rates (when not hitting zero, which often happens)

=> this leads to absurd extreme values between (for 10 rocks shot with 4 mining lasers with a x3 multiplier):
> minimum hit: 0 from 10 rocks
> maximum: 126 from 10 rocks

As I have not seen this extreme spread between minimum and maximum, I assume that some values in this field (Berryl, T23) are borked. This bug (I just assume it is one) might also be responsible for some other commodities that players think of as "just bad".

You test for "hitting zero often", by mining with open trade window. If you hit a rock and zero ore appears (and you did not select another ship), you might suffer from the T23 Berryl field problem.

So what is the appropriate method of requesting a change like this on Disco?
Quote:Factions that operate in that area and could benefit from activity such as Exiles, so they can take their revenge on the corporation
So you're saying that you don't mind Exiles pirating Kishiro in T-29?
Perfect (:
You should go to the Player requests sub-forum, and make a thread there.

It goes straight to the admin/dev team, and remains an invisible thread, so you will want to get every about your suggestion into the thread: what, why, how, etc.

Of course it is not my favorite thing to get pirated Big Grin However, i will take part in it as the victim role, if that's the price of having lucrative mine fields, that attract players, and sets some cool scenario for the inevitable Disco Drama. One day one side is happy for blowing up the other sides ships, and next day the other side gets some loving and tender care. In the mean time miners, transports, escorts, pirates all got some activity.
Ore attracts player activity.

My short answer: For the greater good, come and pirate me.
What I rather meant is that Exiles unfortunately cannot shoot transports unless they carry contraband. But I suppose Exiles' ID needs to be rewritten anyway so hey.

Shoot some RP missiles at us at mean time Big Grin, get our new recruits, and members who don't know Exiles as much acquainted with the conflict. So much i could learn as well!

Back to the OP, please submit more feedback so it can be made a more official request to the dev team.
