Full Version: Suggestion now that Oubli is a wreck

So after visiting the bar at the satellite station on Leeds, it seems that the Oubli was the main hurdle in any success against Gallia on the ground. Now that the ship cannot 'help' forces on the ground by turning landing zones or control centers into glass parking lots, an idea came to mind.

Instead of buffing a price, why not add BMM's to somewhere like Trafalgar in NL, even temporarily for an event or 'buff', so that people could use freighters to make repeated runs from Trafalgar to Leeds to help a 'new offensive' on the ground, which should see some more success now that there is no orbital bombardment option from the GRN. The price is fine, so even with just 500 cargo spaces, if the commodity was a little closer, it would be decently profitable. That just might make for a good freighter swarm of anyone looking to make the runs, and of course be a good catalyst for GRN and BAF forces to combat again. Freighters are small and fast, so might make for good use of LF interceptors, and keep the fights primarily snub based pvp. A fighter blockade, and freighers with possible fighter/gb escorts.

It could be similar to the way the temporary buff event went on over in Shikoku last week. The reason I suggest Trafalgar is so the best option is to come into Leeds via the JH there and not just skeet in from the Magellan jh in the nebula. Also it would be great so people could just go back and forth instead of having to go all the way back to The Ring (keeping the traffic focused in that area).

Rulewise I'd say makes sense to let the docking death ride for freighters, but perhaps not pvp death. Meaning if you make it past the blockade of GRN demanding your BMM's, you can undock after selling and continue, but will be fair game as soon as you're back in space. Then perhaps just let folks come back in another ship. Would be good for a couple hrs of mayhem I think!

I second that idea. It would bring activity to everyone interested into Leeds relief operations.
how about making perma buffed commodity for freighters?

Well, BMMs currently sell for 9k a unit on Leeds via the freighter docking point. You're looking at a permabuffed commodity there. For additional fun, bring a transport and shuttle goods down to the surface. Profit for all! Pro tip: for every three transports, bring two freighters.

Also, OP, I love you. That was the exact angle I tried to convey when I wrote those rumours. The other interesting thing going on there if you read the rumours that were on the Oubli is that the GRN's generals overseeing the ground offensive were stationed on there. Basically, the Gallic land offensive just took a colossal kick in the crotch.

That said, I'm more than up for any buff events focused on Leeds. Bowex freighters represent!

Wasn't gonna say it, but I was thinking it!

Yeah after re-reading all those it got me pumped for the next stage in the plot. As to using transports, that is certainly an option, putting stuff a little closer makes staying with a freighter not totally crazy and still somewhat profitable. Permanent closer placement would be just awesome!
Why not it buff both Rheinland and Liberty-made Military Vehicles, while we are at it?

Rheinland made can have a buff for the docking ring/mooring,so Rheinland can supply GRN, and Liberty can have the shorter route to supply the Bretonians side and Smugglers could take their pick of which group they want to support.
The battle for Planet Leeds is supposed to be set as a ground battle now. There isn't any orbital bombardments. Gallia would be bombing their own people, plus bombing infrastructure they would want to keep. The Oubli battlefleet was just basing from the location to attack into Magellan and keep space superiority for the time being. Which the Oubli fleet damaged, the Carcassonne fleet as taken over. People tend to forget that NPC battleships represent a fleet, not just one capital ship.

Story/lore aside, I wouldn't mind one of the short spontaneous events to focus on smuggling stuff to the surface. Would be fun having a little fight on the other side of the planet.

Now I have a reason to make a cap6 battlefriegther to kill things with I like this idea.
