"Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury."

I. History

Founded in 475 A.S. by Tony Cortez, OS&C has been at the forefront of the travel and tourism industry for over 300 years. From its humble beginnings as a singular resort on planet Curacao, to the sector spanning giant it is today, Orbital Spa and Cruise continues to spearhead the industry with innovation and shrewd corporate ventures.

For almost three centuries the company has weathered the political squabbling and intermittent wars of the Houses with a surprising degree of success becoming one of the few companies in Sirius to attain a “go anywhere” status, all whilst maintaining the high standards of comfort, luxury and excellent customer service that has made Orbital Spa and Cruise the most trusted purveyor of leisure in the sector.
The emergence of Gallia and its overwhelming desire for conquest however proved to be the catalyst for a sector spanning conflict whose effects continue wreak havoc upon untold billions.
The hammer fell with a lightning-fast annexation of Kusari coupled with the simultaneous invasion of Bretonia, sending shockwaves throughout the colonies. Fear and uncertainty began to spread.. Trade grounded to a halt, shares plummeted and the tourism industry was shaken to its very core.

As the sector was reeling from the concussive force of the Gallic juggernaut, another conflict erupted. Liberty’s sudden and unprovoked attack upon Rheinland sent all remaining stability crashing down.
The resorts of Baden Baden and Curacao faced the full brunt of the fallout as they struggled to draw a fraction of their previous custom amid the blurred and shifting lines of war. The relentless march of the Gallic Royalists swept through the Tau’s and into Edinburgh, crushing the Bretonian defence and striking the Liner Shetland as it fled into Newcastle, rendering the once sought-after Liner unfit for service within the OS&C fleet.

Amidst uncertainty, the board of directors opted to repair the Shetland to an operational standard and repurpose it as a floating hospital, offering its use to the Bretonian government whilst they debated upon the liner’s ultimate fate.
Still no respite could be found for the company as Gallia’s conquest of Leeds brought fresh panic to the resorts of Curacao. Royalist patrols had struck into Bretonia’s eastern systems, encroaching heavily into Manchester and Magellan disrupting the much needed aid from Liberty.
The Gallic advance has since assaulted California, drawing Libertonian attention away from the Rheinland conflict, granting the resorts on Baden Baden a small respite and an increase of customers. Now at a tenuous peace, the resumed flow of traffic between Liberty and Rheinland has granted a serious boon to the company as previously stranded businessmen and women seek passage back to New Berlin, prompting OSC to redirect routes to cash in on the newly created wellspring of custom.

In the North East of Sirius, unaffected by the rumblings of war the ever-popular Luxury Liner Hawaii sits enshrouded in the tranquil gas cloud filled system of Sigma 19. There the woes of conflict are as far removed as possible, allowing those who can afford such elegance to indulge freely in what remains the most popular bastion of leisure within the sector.

The Luxury Liner Mackinac.

Widely considered to be the black sheep of the OS&C fleet, the Mackinac is stationed in orbit of the mesmerising planet Kodo in the Nagano system. There it serves as accommodation for customers seeking to visit the notoriously xenophobic Samura resorts operated on the nearby planet Tomioka.
This unfortunate liner earned its blotched reputation due in no small part to the prejudice of the Samura company which frequently alienates potential customers by favouring only those of Kusari birth. Combined with the incessant extortion and smuggling carried out by the shadowy Hogosha, the resulting overheads increased to such an unsatisfactory level that the board of directors voted unanimously to reposition the liner the moment a new site could be found.
Ultimately the havoc created in wake of the Gallic invasion prevented the relocation, as company profits declined rapidly the board were forced to accept the meager yet steady income provided by the Mackinac. This faustian bargain, deemed necessary to preserve company profits may prove intolerable as whispered rumours of division and dissent circulate throughout Kusari. Small scale insurgencies by the Blood Dragons have already increased threatening the safety of the Mackinac prompting the liner to remain on high alert, ready to escape the system should the worst come to pass.

II. Faction Goals

Expansion into Gallia
Turbulent times have stricken the Sirian economy, Holidays and Leisure have been swept to the wayside by warfare and political upheaval. Yet in Gallia there exists a relative peace and an entire nation of people who have never seen the magnificence of planet Kodo, nor the tropical serenity of Curacao. Here lies an untapped resource and a new adventure for those seeking the never-before seen wonders just beyond the Gallic borders.

Purchase of base upon planet Harris
Beyond the cloud of war lies a new dawn, a fresh start for those with the courage to claim it and here at Orbital Spa and Cruise we constantly search for the exciting and incredible. On planet Harris we see the future, upon completion of its terraforming we intend to purchase a majority stake of the world and upon its surface we will create the sectors first and only wildlife resort open for the enjoyment of all the family.

The Pursuit of Excellence
Stagnation, ultimate bane of all existence and the tar in which hope and joy sink never again to see the light of day. We understand that all great things come from the energetic rough and tumble, the constant movement that is the dance of life. That is why you’ll never find a company more dedicated to discovering wonder and beauty, to uncovering bold vistas and exciting new sensations. Here at OSC we constantly strive for that ever elusive horizon and pass every thrill of discovery on to our employees and customers alike.

Conduct Charitable and Humanitarian Efforts
At Orbital Spa and Cruise we are famous for providing opportunities of a lifetime, ripe with incredible views and fresh experiences. We serve only the greatest escapes and cruises available anywhere in the sector but when the galaxy turns dark we are there, providing a helping hand to the suffering and safe transportation for the unfortunate. In times of strife, we offer our liners as floating hospitals such as the Shetland and in times of disaster we transport refugees away from danger, such is the mission of our Humanitarian Aid Department.

  • VII. Security Division

The Orbital Spa and Cruise Security Division is primarily responsible for the well-being and protection of all customers and staff who travel and/or stay upon Orbital Spa and Cruise venues. It is the duty of the security division to provide a safe and reassuring environment whilst ensuring customer freedom and upholding the rights of OS&C staff.

In addition to providing security for customers and staff onboard company vessels, the security division has also been tasked with exploration of new routes and locations for potential orbital liners. All members of the security division must provide a preliminary report to the Director of Security in regards to possible routes and locations, who will then condense all prudent information into a final report to be presented to the CEO for deliberation. Together, the CEO and the Director of Security will decide if the route and/or location meets the high standards of safety demanded by the Orbital Spa and Cruise corporation. Any route or location deemed unworthy of the Director’s approval can not be authorised as itinerary additions until the safety standards are met.

The security division is composed of a professional multi-national team, trained to a high degree in the field of protection and supervision comparable with present-day police forces.

The division is made up of 4 ranks, the Director of Security, Commanders, Senior Officers and Officers. Each of these have their own roles and responsibility.

    Director of Security - [D]

The Director of Security (shortened to “D.Sec”) is a role that must be filled at all times and is picked by the CEO of the company. This person has overall command of the security division. The D.Sec’s roles and responsibilities are:

    • Responsible for all actions and the safety of passengers
    • Implement and maintain security procedures
    • Has final say on safety of operations
    • Delegates jobs to those that are trusted (Or down to the “Dep. Sec”)
    • Handles most of the security related paperwork

    Commanders - [CO]

The Commanders are the second in command of the Security department. They report to the Director and are in charge of all tasks during security operations. They do not scout ahead as they merely coordinate the security operation at that moment in time. The Commanders roles and responsibilities are:

    • A “Goto” person from the Senior Officers to the “D. Sec”
    • Can make “On the spot” decisions if safety is an issue
    • They have total command of all Senior Officers on that route
    • Must inform a Director about all runs

    Senior Officers - [SSO]

Senior Officers (shortened to “S.O”) are the experienced security officers in the division. They have been here long enough to know how the division operates. The Senior Officers travel out as part of the Convoy, escorting the transports. If a Security Officer is not present at the time of launch, the most senior Officer takes over the Senior Officers role. Senior Officer jobs and responsibilities include:

    • Maintaining fluency in transportation of goods and people.
    • Escort Orbital Spa and Cruise transports and must not venture from the transports/convoy
    • A maximum of 1 Senior Officer per 4 transports
    • It is not required to have 1 Senior Officer escorting transports
    • There must be at least 1 Senior Officer on an exploration mission
    • They have total command of all officers on that route

    Officers (∞) - [SO]

Officers are the backbone of the security division. They have a standard payroll and few bonuses depending on the individual. Their jobs and responsibilities include:

    • The escort Orbital Spa and Cruise transports and Liners
    • Scouting ahead, engaging in security operations
    • Escorting
    • Fighting pirates only when transports are threatened.
    • Exploration of new routes
    • Must report to Senior Officers

    VIII. Transport Division

The Transport Division of Orbital Spa and Cruise contains two distinct sections that work in harmony to maintain the superb standards that customers expect from the number one travel and tourism company in the sector. The first and smallest of the two is the Logistics department whose main responsibility is to supply and stock the orbital liners and planetside resorts with the vital commodities and luxury goods needed to fulfil the demands of OS&C patrons.
It has long been company policy to outsource a greater part of the logistical demands to local shipping firms as both a form of cost cutting and as a method by which Orbital Spa and Cruise may ingratiate itself with the greater populace. However a small fleet of supply ships is maintained to service venues beyond House borders or in politically volatile systems where employing House nationals may cause an unwanted rise in tensions.

The final and far larger section is the department of Travel and Tourism which is by far and away the most recognisable arm of the Orbital Spa and Cruise company. As the name implies, this section handles the overall operation of all liners, yachts and planetary resorts under the OS&C banner, this primarily concerns the movement and satisfaction of customers. To that end the Travel and Tourism department are constantly updating the entertainment, activities and lodgings of both resorts and vessels. This ensures that each customer enjoys the latest in virtual reality software and the most recent theatrical releases whilst lavishing upon sumptuous cuisines in the pinnacle of luxury.
The ultimate jewel in the Orbital Spa and Cruise crown is one the most iconic sights in all of Sirius and centrepiece of the Travel and Tourism department, the famous Luxury Liners. So recognisable are they, that their very image has become synonymous with OS&C, perhaps even more so than the name itself. These floating palaces, often found orbiting the most incredible vistas and jaw-dropping beauty to be found in the sector are meticulously serviced by dedicated crews who keep the vessels in a perpetually pristine state. Such is the attention to detail that rumours abound that should even the smallest of scratches be found upon the furniture, the entire service crew must thoroughly re-examine every inch of the vessel to guarantee its service.

    Director of Travel & Tourism

The Director of Travel & Tourism is a required position within the company, hand-picked by the CEO. Only the most trusted, experienced and dedicated ever get to experience this most key of roles. The Directors main tasks and responsibilities can be classified as:

    • Oversee use of Liners, yachts and Logistics transports
    • Responsible for all planetary & liner resorts
    • Uphold the company reputation for comfort, luxurious style and attention to detail.
    • Chooses which routes are to be used and what luxury items should be stocked.
    • Is the public face of the most prominent department of the company.
    • Delegates ordering of tea to ensure the company never runs out
    • Rarely leaves the comforts of the armchair

    Fleet Captain

These experienced captains take on the additional role of looking after an entire convoy of ships, coordinating their movements, ensuring the appropriate level of support from the security division. Jobs and responsibilities include:

    • Assume the convoy leader role
    • 1 per convoy
    • Should none of the designated Senior Captains be in the convoy, then the leader role will be assumed by the most experienced captain of the fleet.
    • Liases with security division and communicates security details to the other liners/transports. (and those fee paying passengers.. yep It’s all fine, that engine is meant to be on fire!, that other liner exploding.. no worries there..we are all fine)
    • Organises which route is being run, and what the main goods hauled should be, leaving some license for individual captains.
    • Must inform Transportation & Cruise Co-ordinator of convoy details. (Does not need to wait for approval)

    Liner Captain/Yacht Skipper

Renowned as some of the most capable of ship captains throughout Sirius, famed for their ability to stay calm in the midsts of challenging circumstances. With an unrivalled record of safety to uphold, they do so with a charm that befits their frequent role at the frontline of the company:

    • Ultimately responsible for the safety of passengers onboard their vessel.
    • Takes advice from convoy and security leaders
    • Provided the main cargo is as set by the Convoy leader, free to fill up the rest as the captain sees fit for his vessel.

    Shipmaster

Reliable and dependable, they are the unsung heroes of the company. Without them all would grind to a halt, yet one barely notices they exist when all is running smoothly.

    • Responsible for the safe & timely delivery of their cargo

No ' and add an exclamation mark. ;3

You don't happen to have an extended lore about Curacao? From what I've seen so far, I'm one of the very few players that pay Curacao a bit more attention regarding my characters' backgrounds. (Ezrael, Sombra, Leon)
Thanks for catching that, unfortunately we don't have anything additional about Curacao or our other bases, we work off only what the infocards provide e.g. tropical planet, oceans and islands.

Saying that, there was a plan to expand upon all our holdings and a few other "tourist" planets such as Hamburg and Denver but it was put on the backburner until our shipyard is secured for the upcoming new liners. Once that last bit of major work is done I will probably turn my attention to the lore aspect of OSC (I remember Nom asking for details on how our liners work/operate) but for now I'd recommend just going by the infocard and filling in the gaps with whatever you think is suitable.
