Hey all -

It's that time again, for rules clarification! Seems there has been some confusion surrounding whether or not you need to use your official faction's tag when you are in the official faction/carrying the official player faction ID. Many of you old timers will think "Well that's obvious" but hey, there are new players and after some recent conversations, some were confused about it (Even I was).

So let's clear it up officially -

You are not required, by server rules, to have the Faction Tag of the Official Player Faction you are in. BUT, you are required to have the Official Player Faction ID equipped if you are in that official faction.

EDIT: We're allowing a one month grace period for factions to get all their ID's situated. April 18th is the final date to do this.

Many faction leaders will impose their own internal rules that if you're in the faction, you need to carry the tag, but this is not server rules and thus you won't be sanctioned for it. Also too, by not having the tag, you won't count towards your faction's activity, as that is not tracked through the ID, but through your faction tag.

As such, I have updated and included that information here in the Faction Creation Rules.

Thanks, and have fun!
Finally we have this written in green.
This is great, uncover ships ahoy!

Look!
Just a question - How would a faction activity be tracked if non of it's member uses a tag ?
I guess this would fall under the "exotic" aspects of a faction. Means it won't be tracked. There should be pro's and con's in untagging.

It does not track. It's up to a faction to abide activity rules that track tag.
It wouldn't. Untagged with a player faction ID is meant to be the exception, not the rule. Most should be tagged, and encouraged to do so, otherwise exactly - you don't have those ships counted for activity.

This is more meant for those rare members who want to remain untagged for RP purposes, but are in the faction still.

Again, you SHOULD be tagged, but if your RP requires you to be untagged, you're not in trouble for doing so.
There will be some GMG| ships that do not yet have the official ID, but this will be changed as and when they are found. On the assumption that warnings and sanctions will be handed out if tagged ships are found with non-official ID, a short amnesty to rectify the error would be nice.

This faction will not have any tracked activity. That´s not an issue for unofficial faction. If you want to be official, you have to fly at least minimal portion on tagged characters unless the tracking via ID will be approved and implemented (if that´s ever going to happen since there some people who disagree with that and I understand their arguments).
