got some random message from a "chick" spamming me with a url
could i have contracted any malware by opening the skype chat window?
or can i only get any by clicking the link?

Only by clicking on the link. The skype chat window only contains simple text and is not able to automaticaly run code. Serves you right for having such exotic "chick" friends.

These are automated scripts - very annoying.

i keep getting this from a friend of mine on msn
grr, everytime he signs off it spams it to all his friends.
ive been getting the same messages.. anyway i just ignored them all and closed them

I am 100% sure that you can be hacked just by having skype open and connected to someone.
No, script kiddies probably cant do this.
That happens to me too, it's really annoying. It's fun to make fun of them, and watch their auto replies. I've yet to get one to actually talk to me... but yeah, don't click the links, it could be bad.
I seriously doubt they could give you the Virus through skype, as said above.
