For a long time Zoners have been the subject of many discussions about what Zoners are and what they can do. One recurring theme has been in regards to their own laws and the NFZ’s around Freeports and Zoner stations.

Many believe they should not exist and many are thankful that they do exist. With that said, and for quite some time now, Zoners (Represented by the CoF - which every Freeport/Zoner station Administrator is a part of, and including the Zoner Official Factions) have been united in overarching discussion and agreement regarding these zones.

The crux of the problem faced is that Zoners do not have the capability to enforce their own laws. They can say "Don't break our NFZ!" but that's it. Only words, but if they try to act on enforcing their laws it is an ID break unless someone engages a Zoner ship or Station.

Given evolving circumstances, the Admin team have discussed and voted to evolve the Zoners ability to be able to enforce their laws. Before everyone goes up in arms, it was also discussed that due to the potential abuse of the following ID change, this will only be implemented for Official Zoner Factions only. As it stands, the following line will be added to Official Zoner Faction ID's thus mirroring the line in some other Official ID’s:

- Can enforce the Laws of the CoF within systems containing a Zoner base

For reference, the laws can be found here.

We hope that this will allow for some interesting roleplay, and we will be watching to make sure this does not get out of hand.
Wasn't there already a green message in regards, that "breaking" the NFZ does count as "in defense" of a Zoner base?

This is a good point though. It was always may understanding that, for example, asking unfriendly or hostile ships to leave the vicinity of a base of the same IFF falls under "in defense of bases".
Although still, the line above obviously grants wider privileges.
Careful guys, read carefully.
Only OFFICIAL Zoners.
Don't fall into a sanction trap in your initial moments of "hurray!!" Big Grin

As I said it was a green text.
but why?why official factions?
TAZ have no say outside of baffin for plenty of reasons..
OSI is merely a 'house' zoners type of faction which goes without saying why give it to them???

so you gave a line to factions which should not have them instead of the generic id...
So in other words, Zoners are still broken in what they can do?
I'll be honest...

It doesn't help much, as said above. I'd honestly let indies do this, since there are better "terrorist" ID's then Zoners who can only engage to protect their own base.
Let's not militarize Zoners. And let's not forget that Zoner ID is a generic ID at some point.
