Eugen Hendrik Wolfgang Christof von Hohenstein

Perhaps there is hope. Hm.

The Arbeiter presses another cigarette between his teeth.

Arbeiter Stockhausen, here. Eugen. You're a man who has lived half a life. You know of the world. You know of what a man can do to another.

You can tell difference between being able to show anger towards unjust men and joining the injustice yourself. Good. That is the kind of distinction we're looking for. It will keep you healthy. It will keep you alive.

I won't pretend what we do here is honest work. It is work, and it is honest to itself. You may steal, to fund a hostel. You may turn a nuclear weapon into a generator to keep a habitat alive. That is the... murk... of who we are. You need to be able to navigate.

I hope you can, Arbeiter.

He coughs, then closes the transmission. A set of co-ordinates appear on Eugen's PDA.

Eugen Hendrik Wolfgang Christof von Hohenstein has been accepted into the Reichsarbeitergesellshaft at Arbeiter rank.

Place of Birth: Pacifica Base
Gender: Male
Previous occupation(s): Miner, Escort, Transport (All in my trusty Behemoth)
Are you already a member of the Syndicliga, LWB, or Unioners?: Yes.

Short Biography:

I've spent most of my time living in Bering. Long ago I mined ore, but the pay wasn't fair for the value of my labor, and I left the corporation. Since then, I've collected scrap, and occasionally stopped a transport.

Why do you want join us:
Why were the Unions outlawed?: The Unioners were outlawed for standing up for workers' rights and refusing to allow the workers to be exploited for profit.

Why were the LWB outlawed?: The LWB were outlawed for gathering against Synth Foods to push them out of Rheinland.

Describe, in your own words, our attitude to life: People are important. Their contributions are more important than arbitrary economic profit. People deserve to live well for working hard.

You’re the captain of an artefacts transport. Your escort and your convoy mate is engaged. Do you wait for your escort, assist them in battle, or proceed according to route? : I will fly back and help them fight off the attackers. Lucky for them, I'm an escort even when I'm hauling goods. I am never helpless.

You’re the captain of a strike cruiser. There’s a fight occurring between the Hessians and the Rheinland military, which the Hessians are winning. You can wait for the Hessians to win, help the Hessians or help the Rheinland lawful. Which do you do? Since the Hessians are winning, the elimination of the Rheinland military is already insured. I would use the remnants of the Rheinland military to bolster my effort in eliminating some of the Hessians until the sides are more even, and then I would leave them to destroy each other, removing both of our enemies.

Name: Kalle Niska
Date of Birth (Age): 23.09.774 (52)
Place of Birth: Freeport 2
Gender: Male
Previous occupation(s): Mechanic, Shipgrade-Weapons Manufacturer, Arms Smuggler.
Are you already a member of the Syndicliga, LWB, or Unioners?: The straight answer would be no, but I've always considered myself to be a Unioner in spirit.

Short Biography: I was born on Freeport 2 and I've lived on Freeport 2 for as long as I can remember, a true belter through and through. In short, my family were Unioners. My mother came to the Freeport to raise me somewhere 'safe'.

For years now I've been a mechanic, dad's fault. If it exists, I've probably had my grubby hands on it, you'll be surprised what winds up on that Freeport from time to time, and don't mind the cybernetics, this old greaser's been through some scrapes.

Why do you want join us: Word has it them Zoners are plannin' somethin' with Freeport 2, while the guys on station pay well I don't care to stay around for the bloodbath on station. At the end of the day my family were Unioners, maybe it's about time I pay attention to my roots, fall in with a group I can truly get behind, have some loyalty.

Why were the Unions outlawed?: Rheinland hates decent working people and doesn't know a good set of shipbuilders when they see them.

Why were the LWB outlawed?: A lot of people really hate farmers and plants. Maybe they all have allergies.

Describe, in your own words, our attitude to life: Normally I hate to use this term, but; 'Arbeit macht frei'. Our line of work really does allow us to be free. Everyone's gotta pull their own weight, everyone has a job to do and as long as everyone does their job to their fullest it keeps us alive, but equally so, they're free to do work as they choose. At least, that's how I see it.

You’re the captain of an artefacts transport. Your escort and your convoy mate is engaged. Do you wait for your escort, assist them in battle, or proceed according to route?: Depends where we are, how much we're hauling, what we're up against and how much I know those guys. No offence, but I ain't sittin' around for some Military milksop to space me, that said; it's bad for morale if we lose people. Parts are easy to replace, people ain't. Unioners gotta stick together. Besides, there's been enough deaths out in the black already.

You’re the captain of a strike cruiser. There’s a fight occurring between the Hessians and the Rheinland military, which the Hessians are winning. You can wait for the Hessians to win, help the Hessians or help the Rheinland lawful. Which do you do?: The question is; do I need to get involved? Do I care? Do I have something to gain? - I'd rather not help either side if I'm honest. Though, at least the Military are the devil I know.

Kalle Niska. That's a hell of a name.

Warms me up to see a rustbeard with a weather eye.

Schwartz fixes the camera a sidelong grin. The frame is juddering around - you realise the camera's being manhandled by someone else - on a PDA maybe?

Safety?

He breaks into a sidelong, silent chuckle that could almost be a sigh.

She's a smarter woman than my old lady. If there really is freedom out there in the black where brothers murder brothers? It's in our effort. The flag of labour - stained red. It's the vitality of man. It's what keeps us from death. I get that you took a lifetime to honour her wishes before diving into the wetwork. I'll wire you up to the boys at Freeman Drive Combine; they're the ones banging davits into aviation hulls; they're the boss. Add in that Wetdock they've crammed to Vierlande and you're going to be working till your legs give out, if you've got the freedom for it. Depends if you've got the heart for training younglegs in patched EVA gear.

For sticking it out for the Ring? You have my respect, old timer.

Name: Jan Van Hamburg
Date of Birth (Age): 23.
Place of Birth: Voidborn, Bretonia.
Gender: Male
Previous occupation(s): Scrapper, Transport Crewman.
Are you already a member of the Syndicliga, LWB, or Unioners?: Nein.

Short Biography: Jan’s family originally held a position in the Kaiser’s personal guard. After the fall of the monarchy, they moved to Bretonia to escape persecution and economic pressure. With the advent of the Gallic wars, they recently repatriated to Rheinland, only to find it filled with corrupt officials bent on reaping the profits of their corporate allies.

Why do you want join us: To restore Rheinland to it’s former Imperial glory (and make a few credits in the process).

Why were the Unions outlawed?: The unions were outlawed after the 80 years war, when mass amounts of workers were laid off from the shipyards, and corporations attempted to seize power in the interim between the Empire and the Republic. The modern Unioners are outlawed for acting as an extension of the former labor unions, as well as for acting as middle-men in a multitude of black-and-grey markets, as well as for extortion and other criminal acts.

Why were the LWB outlawed?: The LWB was outlawed as a result of reactionary radicals taking up arms against Synth Foods for their increasing monopoly on the Rheinland farmlands.

Describe, in your own words, our attitude to life: From my interactions with those Arbeiters such as Riehl, the typical Unioner attitude is not quite carefree, as a great deal of caution and planning is incorporated, but generally idealistic towards personal, financial, and societal liberation.

You’re the captain of an artefacts transport. Your escort and your convoy mate is engaged. Do you wait for your escort, assist them in battle, or proceed according to route? : I would proceed according to the route, as the role of an escort during a smuggling operation is twofold: First, to engage enemy craft and protect the transport, and second, to act as a battering ram to open up safe passage for the transport. If the smuggler in question delays in the face of heavy resistance, then he wastes the sacrifices of those who fell to protect him and his cargo, as well as to protect the interests of the Union.

You’re the captain of a strike cruiser. There’s a fight occurring between the Hessians and the Rheinland military, which the Hessians are winning. You can wait for the Hessians to win, help the Hessians or help the Rheinland lawful. Which do you do? Currently, (as of 10/12/19 real time) we are engaged in a delicate ceasefire with the Rheinland Military as we plan our vengeance for the betrayal at Vierlande. Accordingly, we have nothing to lose from aiding the Rheinwehr, (indeed, it would better serve us to aid them and gain their sympathies) and should do so at every opportunity to better fight against the Coalition and their dogs.

Discovery experience: How long have you been around? Do you have been sanctioned , if yes please post the links in here ? I’ve been in and out of discovery for about 5 years now, only now choosing to engage in roleplay on the official server and join factions. I’m not aware of any sanctions that have been filed against me, but it’s possible that I have one kicking around from years ago.
Are you willing to partake in all forms of Unioner activity, including smuggling, piracy, fleet action and research excursions? All of this sounds fun, yes. I’m mostly a text-based roleplayer, so this is all right up my alley. I don’t mind PVP, but it’s not my strong suit.
Do you enjoy text based role-play?:
Yes, It’s mostly the reason I log.
Do you agree to maintain a non-adversarial attitude to other players?: Yes.
You do you agree to accept the RP consequences of the character’s actions?: Yes, as this is the very appeal of Official Factions, as well as roleplay on disco as a whole.
Can you dedicated a minimum of two hours a week to the faction, be it in game, on forum, or elsewhere? (with obvious exceptions for IRL issues): As best as I can, going through college.
[b Do you guarantee that you will show a reasonable level of independence as a Syndic? That you will log and play independently and involve yourself in the Syndic community?: I’ll do my best to operate independently.

Jan Van Hamburg

Perhaps there is hope. Hm.

The Arbeiter presses another cigarette between his teeth.

Jan of Hamburg. 'Of Hamburg'. Well, there's a great many of us that were of Hamburg. Hamburg has, before, swallowed its own. It doesn't mean we should give it up for its mistakes, eh?

Reports from your flights with us show that you're tenacious and eager. Good, very well done, young man.

I look forward to seeing you grow.

Name: Anton Kessler
Date of Birth (Age): January 16th, 795 (31)
Place of Birth: Bonn Station, New Berlin
Gender: Male
Previous occupation(s): Escort pilot, Freelancer
Are you already a member of the Syndicliga, LWB, or Unioners?: Yes

Short Biography: Born and raised on Bonn Station, I pursued a career as a fighter escort for Interspace Commerce. Risking my own life to protect the wealth of others, I was rewarded with a pitiful salary, long working hours with virtually no time off, and a disgraceful standard of living. After many years, I grew sick of being taken advantage of by IC, and left my job and my homeland to live the life of a Freelancer in the edge worlds. Although the pay and the quality of life weren't any better, at least I was free to make my own choices and pursue my own interests. Having recently returned to Rheinland, I've come back into contact with some old acquaintances and IC colleagues who now fly for the Unioners, and have recently joined their ranks.

Why do you want join us?: Because I agree with your philosophy and your goal to make Rheinland a better place for its people, and because I'm tired of flying without a cause. It's time I did something to make a difference.

Why were the Unions outlawed?: Because the Rheinland government will bend over backwards to appease their corporate sponsors, using any means at their disposal to remove opposition to the corporations' activities.

Why were the LWB outlawed?: Similar to the Unions, the LWB were outlawed for their resistance to the destruction of their livelihoods by the profit-driven Synth Foods corporation, which is backed by the Rheinland government.

Describe, in your own words, our attitude to life: Every individual person has the right to be treated with respect, to think for themselves and to make their own choices in life. The faceless greed of corporate Rheinland needs to be put to and end, and those responsible need to be punished for their mistreatment of the workers.

You’re the captain of an artefacts transport. Your escort and your convoy mate is engaged. Do you wait for your escort, assist them in battle, or proceed according to route?: The answer to this clearly depends on the specifics of the situation. If there is any chance that I can realistically make a difference, I will of course assist my fellow Unioners. But if we are clearly outmatched with no hope of victory, it would be foolish to sacrifice my own life and cargo for no gain when they could instead still be used to benefit our cause.

You’re the captain of a strike cruiser. There’s a fight occurring between the Hessians and the Rheinland military, which the Hessians are winning. You can wait for the Hessians to win, help the Hessians or help the Rheinland lawful. Which do you do?: I would attack the Hessians. Although we may not see eye-to-eye with the Military, the Hessians and their misguided ideology of revolution are the bigger threat to the future of our homeland.
