I would like to know how to connect to the server, i got FL, i got the mod manager, i got 4.84 mod too, now what?:Pplease help me!;)
' Wrote:A little something I was asked to make, this tutorial is about how to connect to Discovery RP 24/7 and how to install the GLS Workaround by w0dk4. Each tutorial has different options on how to connect to Discovery, pick the one that's best for you and you're good to go.

Select your option and then scroll down.
  • 1. Using the GLS Workaround
  • 2. Using Direct Links from the Mod Files
  • 3. Creating your own direct link
-----------

1. Using the GLS Workaround:

For all who don't know, GLS stands for Global Server, which unfortunately Microsoft shut down a few months back. Quickly afterwards though, a Lancers Reactor Community member (also the owner of Hamburg City) created a secondary GLS based off this statistics page: http://www.freelancerserver.de/topservers.htm

Now, how to install? Well, simple, first things first, you download it. Select one of the three mirrors below.

(And yes, you only have to chose one of the links. If the first mirror doesn't work, use one of the other two.)
Mirror 1: http://www.freelancerserver.de/download/gl...round.zip.flmod
Mirror 2: http://files.filefront.com/gls+workaroundz...;/fileinfo.html
Mirror 3: http://rapidshare.com/files/108368454/gls_....zip.flmod.html

Next?
  • 1. Download the file and open it in FLMM
  • 2. Activate the mod ON TOP of Discovery.
  • 3. Run Freelancer, Multiplayer, and then Internet
In order for this to work, you must activate it after you've activated Discovery. And yes, you are allowed to do this. After you've completed that, you should be able to log on to any server that's listed on the statistics page (Discovery is one of them).

(Different formats of the download can be found here for those who want them. http://stats.freelancerserver.de/)
(Also, yes I know, I haven't added fllistserver GLS workaround as I find it far to buggy at the moment to be of use. Plus I find this one better anyway. ^_~)

Done! There ya go, you should be able to connect to Discovery like you would if the Global Server still existed.

-----------

2. Using Direct Links from the Mod Files:

For those who haven't noticed, Igiss has added a link in to your Freelancer directory called "Discovery Freelancer RP" that has Freelancers 'direct connect' option added, which automatically has the RP server come up in both your LAN and Multiplayer lists. The link can be found in your main Freelancer directory. (Default: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer)

You can copy this link on to your desktop, or wherever else you prefer, and run it to connect to the server. Easy, simple, done.

-----------

3. Creating your own direct link:

Creating your own direct link can be useful at times, as you can add your own settings (such as windowed mode), and more then one IP. How to do it? Well.
  • 1. Right click on your Freelancer link and click properties.
  • 2. In the "Target" value, add -s82.113.48.5:2302 at the end of the link outside of the quotes. So it should look like this. "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\Freelancer.exe" -s82.113.48.5:2302 - Now, if your link doesn't have any quotes at the beginning and end of the link, it's fine, just add the code that I've written above.
  • 3. Click apply and close the window.
Done, you've created your own link. Now of course you can add more then one IP in the link itself, just have a single space between each set. If you wish to have your game in windows mode, add "-w" to the end of the link just like you would for the IP.

What do you mean? After you activate it with the FL mod manager, you just do what I posted, and launch the game.. It will be launched with the disco 4.84 mod
It doesen`t tell me what to do with the 3 files, lol... i haven`t touch freelancer in like 60 months, anywys, i got the following files:

-Freelancer the game
-Freelancer mod manager
-And the mod 4.84

What do i do steps by steps with the folders lolz
1. Install the game. (anywhere)
2. Install Freelancer Mod Manager. (anywhere)
3. Double click on the mod's .FLMM file -- it will now load it in the Mod Manager. After it's done loading in the Manager, select it from the list of mods and click on Activate.
