I still have a couple of Privateer ships on the go. If activity in New London is supposed to pick up, might be a good time to get out and show the flag again!

Here's a quick RP example.

Nothing to Raid against. There are no convoys of Gallic ships going to the front lines. No trade going on between Kusari and Galia to interrupt. It is hard to play a "Role" with no opponents. Even, farming NPC transports is pretty useless as it results in hardly any credits earned.

The largest combat ship that can be flown with that ID is a Gunboat. Raiding behind the enemy lines as an attack force, seems out of place if you are attacking military targets, plus plenty of places already in game for people to get their pew pew on...Leeds, Magellan...soon Cortez. I have never understood how BAF does not have its ZOI enlarged to include parts of the Gallia.

The most Privateerish role play things I have found in-game to focus on and build off of are, supplying Leeds with weapons (Freighters can dock), and taking Nanocapicitors to Council controlled space and returning with Fugitives to Texas (earns credits). But again, little ingame RP to build off of.

Plus, knowing how things play out in Discoville...as soon as a group of people get together and raid Galia in Snubs/VHF and Gunboats, they will be met with Cap ships. If they bring a knife, you bring a gun...the moment they see you have a gun, they go get a rocket launcher....once you see they have a rocket launcher, you go and get a howitzer...and so forth and so on.

It is cool though, seeing that there is some interest from you people out there.

Thiers not alot to RP off but it has to start somewhere. Never know might spark an interest in someone to start a opposing force and create the RP in its own right
Its true, there should be a permanent incentive supply run to Gallic occupied areas to encourage more trading in exposed zones (as well as hauling plundered goods back to Gallia). I know there are decent ones now but a big one would definitely draw in a more permanent presence. If London is about to be sieged, there should be a high value cargo run to both New London (from Liberty or the Omegas) and another for the Gallic side to their closest frontline base.
Reading this thread and the very valid points expressed, i had a bit of a brainwave.

Perhaps the privateers could be reconfigured a bit because of the lack of things to do and shoot. Here's the very basic idea:

Semi-convert them from a mainly offensive force, which is what privateers are, and move to being more like paramilitary blockade runners. With that, BAF and BretGov could reach out and work with them providing more interaction and RP.

Privateers would still be shady quasi-lawfuls but their 'rep' with the govt itself could improve a bit.

Again, all this is just a thought and far from being able to be properly, fully realized.
Problem with Bretonian Privateers is the fact they have nothing to shoot at due to the fact Gallia has no traders to offer. But that is mainly gameplay issue, due to fact Liberty has the most of traders due to their hub position and the fact it is starting point.

I agree with several people that we should do something to make Gallic corps more valid option for trading BEFORE we can even speak about Bretonian Privateers' activity.

Have fun pirating IMG

Edit: Gaga and me actually pirated =CR= in the Taus on our Privateer ships
You cannot pirate Bretonian allies (CR, Liberty, etc.) due to ID limitations. And you can't pirate Rheinlanders without being banned from Bretonia having your Privateer status revoked. Been there, tried that.
Bretonia will not condone pirating inside Bretonian House.

It was done outside House Space. I got a clear response that I either stop pirating Rheinlanders in Omegas or I'll be hunted down as criminal. It was like two years ago.
