Full Version: How to lock on with missiles?

Hello all,

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, however I've been having problems with locking on/having missiles track targets.

Cruise disruptors are generally fire-and-forget as long as theyre able to track, however no torpedos or missiles are behaving similarly.. They always just fly straight.

Just got a "Defiant" gunboat, and mounted a couple Liberty Heavy Missile Launchers in the Heavy slots, can't seem to get them to track, and my key bound to "Fire Missile" triggers the cooldown for the launchers, but doesn't seem to fire anything (even at point blank range).

When put into a weapon group, the fire button activates them and triggers their cooldown, but there's no "missile" animation (can't see a tail or anything on it).

Advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Firing a missile will happen only if all of the following are met:
a) it's not on cooldown
b) the launcher is pointing in the right direction
c) you have enough ship energy to fire them
d) you have enough ammo

If either b, c or d aren't met, then the missile will go on cooldown, but not fire.
Also pay attention to missile/torpedo speed, if you and the victim are flying on Thrusters (150-160-200m/s) and you fire a torpedo which speed is 60-90m/s, it will never get to the target, you are too fast.

Depends on the direction you and the target are moving.. if it's a chase, they'll catch, because the missile inherits the velocity of the ship.

omg really? Only missiles or torpedoes too?
Everything. Even gunfire. Never used engine-kill and shot to the side?
Just a guess here, but I see 2 missile batteries in the OP. Per the first response, if you are trying to fire them both at the same time, that would most likely overwhelm your core.
