I want to explore everything at my own pace, without having to worry about a separate process running in the background that doesn't need to be there.

The point is, it's not a solution, it's using a bazooka to swat a few mosquitoes.

Or you can choose not to give it to you. You unlock the default disco commands if you haven't given admin powers to yourself and this is your first time hosting a server. soooo Unless you give yourself admin commands, you have to play like normal. i mean they could do the latter, but it's a waste of time for coding it compared to the effort it takes just to do that. It's litterally 30 seconds that it takes you to put it on and go in and have fun, maybe less time. and it's completely unnoticable if you're in fullscreen.

But you can still trade, are the prices not the same - excluding ore/dynamic prices? I don't really see the point in wasting a lot of time playing alone, when the mod is mostly intended for player interaction and combat. Shooting NPCs for an eternity, and grinding alone sounds like a special kind of hell.

Trading is the same, like I said in my first post in this thread, that part is pretty much fixed.

Also, what you call a grind, I call a way to relax and enjoy this wonderful universe that Digital Anvil created and the Dev Team has built on. I love the mod, I've been using it since the 4.80 days. I haven't played in a few years because I've been playing other games more and more, but had an itch to play Freelancer again. It's bad enough that I can't get the vanilla game running on my Windows 10 machine, but not being able to play my favorite mod the way I used to be able to because they chose the easy way out of a problem is just plain frustrating.

Regarding running a local server: It's not quite the same as running in single player, either. Sure, the majority of the game is the same, but the subtle things like being able to create multiple save points so I can pick different routes easily can't be done easily on a server.

All I'm asking is that they make the launcher check for saves, warn the user about the possible problems, and let them choose whether or not to delete them. It's a simple solution that won't take that much effort to implement. It's not like I'm suggesting they figure out a way to check the content of those saves for any potential problematic data.

Flies need a fly swatter, not a nuke.
Launcher issues will be adressed soon.
if you just run the freelancer executable it won't delete your saves. Just don't try to connect to MP because you could be missing a patch. If you do want to update, backup your saves and then open the launcher.
