Anyone who flies a snubcraft, flies a VHF or a bomber. Light fighters are typically left tot he RP-only use, or the very poor (but even then not very likely). So how can we fix this? Give them an advantage over VHFs!

Right now, the HF and VHF have the same speed. Most HFs are slightly better at turning, but not enough to offset the power/weapon/armor differences. So let's adjust cruise speeds for al the snubs.

LFs would go from 400 to 425. This gives them a speed advantage over all other ships, so that they can catch pesky freighters that will have more firepower than them.

HFs go to 400 cruise speed, up from 375. This makes them as fast as a freighter, and faster than the more heavily armed VHFs, GBs and Bombers.

VHFs stay unchanged at 375. Still intercept capable, but really designed more as an escort ship or a heavy hitter.

Bombers go to 350, down from 360. Bombers are already incredibly overpowered, so why not slow them down a bit. They'd have to actually be smart to catch their prey, rather than just be faster and CD them, then absolutely annihilate their targets.

That's my thought, by boosting the two lighter fighter categories, and slowing down bombers, we might be able to see a bit more diversity in the ships people fly.
Do you fly these ships? Light Fighters for example are already at 425.

Bombers are needing the additional speed to catch up to caps.
I agree with the HF cruise buff, everything else is not needed. People fly bombers? Today's event aside (because respawning was allowed) bombers are by far the least flown combat class in the game. They always die first to VHFs and nobody bothers with large bomber swarms anymore, and the class itself is still boring to fight caps in even after the rework.

Bombers are far from overpowered otherwise everyone'd be flying them, as is the standard in Disco. It happened with the Switchblade, it happened with the OSC Shuttle, it happened with the old Cougar or Bergelmir, Kusari Explorer, etc. They aren't overpowered because of the inconsistency of torpedoes and them dying much quicker than a fighter as soon as they're focused. I'm guessing you're saying that because you were jousting one and got obliterated by the guns or the SNAC. Don't joust a bomber. They're good at killing people bad in pvp (consistently).
This was a non-issue before aux slots were introduced. The solution seems pretty easy to figure out.
IMO i think the only thing is a Fast attack fighter thats in the middle of VHF/HF and LF. to balance out all class lines of fighters

FAF with 6 guns, CD launcher, CM, mine, cruise speeds at 430 ( or some where around there ) but since it doesnt have missile hard point it makes up for in power core somewhat. meant for quick strike and to stop a target in its tracks til support comes. with class 7 or 8 shield

Also could add a cruise intercepter class but thats just above or below a LF, CI would have faster cruise start up and cruise much faster than anything else but i dunno if that makes sense as the LF is already kinda like that.
Great way to nerf Freighters my friend. Smile
To be honest Heavy Fighters as a class have always been very niche and never too popular, not even when the dual CD/Torp slots were their thing. Now that VHFs can fill that role they're even less desirable.
Some good old-fashioned power creep for Heavy Fighters is already in the game files meant for some uncharted/dungeon raiding content that hasn't really gotten off the ground yet.

That and we need to see if the anticheat plays along with them.
I'm down with nerfing fighters.

This. As long as aux slots exists, I doubt there can be proper balance among the fighter subclasses.
