Because they are limited to whom they can pirate, and where, they are also entangled in politics that limit the sort of allies they can make.
An independent pirate faction does not suffer from these limitations, and can bring activity in areas unaccessible to the Liberty Rogues.

I would just like to refer you to the fact that the presence of organized crime tends to keep disorganized crime down. You will either be stuck on Junker bases and/or Freeports, or you will have to initiate diplomacy (e.g. a profit-sharing agreement) with unlawful factions*, and people don't really like to share.

But what do I know, I just fly a Pirate ID Stargazer.

*that have an official faction that can and will FR5 independents (see: Rogues Code of Conduct)
Im assuming just want to have unlimited zoi or what? I dont really got the idea, but well, gluck anyway.

Seems every time i log, pops a new pirate faction, either i should stop logging, or stop logging off Smile

The author of this thread meant something that could be taken seriously.
making it a faction will make your experience a lot worse, since your reputation will be adjusted negatively by admins upon request by official factions because they won't like hunting on their turf

however if you just make a discord server(or just join an existing one, link at the top)or a skype group chat for coordination, you won't have to deal with the negative effects mentioned above
Bad idea to make new faction, you will be bullied, harased, trolled, set up with dirty tricks and obstructed by curent factions couse they dont have activity and they want new players to become their minons, not to have free faction for them self.
They may post diferent reason why they are against newbie faction, but dont buy that excuse.
For example use Search function to see how they manage to destroy newbie faction [WSC]-White Shipping Company, with such tricks, who had great activity.
Naturaly, nobody was sanctioned for that.
A great idea in whatever form it materializes in. Here's my opinion on what also could be done to help out the desire to fly as an indie pirate, or group of pirates. Yes some will call it unorthodox, but really, the server has been here a long time, its after the thickest hayday its ever had, its time to relax some traditional confines when it comes to the ID itself and ships it can be used on.

Ships like the Corvo and the Democritus and Camara all NEEEEEEED cruise disruptors. People will actually fly them, what's really so wrong with seeing more civilian indies convert them over to piracy?

Corvo would be a great pirate 'cruiser' to head a pirate fleet, but it should be able to have a chance to catch something and not just serve as an escort to caps. At the moment, its powerless, and therefore useless. You buy it, fly it a while, realize the terrible mistake you made spending credits on it, and sell it again. Why have that?

Democritus needs a CD so it could be used as a converted civi transport as a pirate transport. All civilian transports should have the option to be used illegally, even with a slight power nerf. This is the type of ship that would be great for cargo piracy, and could actually sell stolen goods. That is, have a chance to make it to a lawful or semilawful base and not be flagged just from the ship you fly, like you would if you used a Bullmastiff.

Camara would be a great little addition to freighters that could be used to pirate finally, just needs that CD so you can do more than just run with the thing.

Bam, 3 ships that are rarely seen wind up used, spicing things up a bit.

Lastly, the pirate ID needs to have its rephack ended. It should be like a Freelancer ID. You do not need your pirate to be 'red' to you, and that's all it is. and yes, pirates could actually dock on lawful bases. Just pass a rule saying they can't dock on police or military stations (planets excepted for smuggling purposes) and then you'll see people try to pirate more and smuggle the goods with the same ship they did the piracy on. Means more chances of people shipping in lawful transports but unlawful circumstances...meaning police/military would have more unknowns to deal with, more traffic, because of more options being opened up. For all the time its been running as it is, what harm could really come to the server from this? Players should want more opportunities, more options, and more traffic, not to have less to worry about from the lawful side. If the worst thing that happens is your pirate escapes to a house police base...oh wait its already set up so that's against the rules in the case of semi-lawfuls or lawfuls who have just been caught doing something illegal...right?? (or at least, it EARNS your bad rep, as it should be).

Color coding is great but anyone who has played long enough and cares enough to stay knows you can't judge a ship by its color on the scanner. If you want effortless trading or patrolling, why would you really even want to play here? The option to powertrade legal goods in a 5000 transport silently will always be there for when you need cash LOL.

Add some options, fix the pirate ID so pirates can go near populated areas. Also, as far as factioning goes, don't be scared to go tagless. Yes, I said it, tagless. Unless you want to be avoided 99% of the time after your first couple of attacks (whether they succeed or not).
Bad idea, because you only would try some weeks or maybe days outside of Liberty to get something to do but we all know that at one point you will come to Liberty and become another reason to quit the game. Thanks, we have enough to to in Liberty, better you encourage players to play on the lawful side in Rheinland to keep the Unioners away or in the Omicrons as Corsairs to get an opposition for the Outcasts.
