AP-FILE #809D: PROJECT "CERES"

• OBJECTIVE: Convert the currently utilized "Mercury" class APC-Generators to utilize DT-Fuel
• ASSIGNED APM PERSONNEL: Dr. R.Cassistor, AP Propulsion Lab
• AUDIT: CEO M. McKinsey
• STATUS: Complete

Brief

Due to the most recent political developments in the nearby Sigmas, The Core High Command along with the APM Board of Directors had come to realize the urgent need for switching fuel supply to a reliable business partner, who offers a high quality product at the best possible price. Thus Krüger Mineralien has been deemed a suitable choice to this venture with their very own, highly efficient DT-Fuel to power our vessels. Relative close proximity, bargain pricing, thorough training program for our own crews and an overly positive history of cooperation* are amongst the most notable features of this nearly pioneer refit project.

Outline

Project "Ceres" features the following phases to be completed as to ensure smooth transition:

1. Reach acceptable pricing terms - complete. Since The Core will be the first to utilize DT-Fuel on a such large scale, we have been granted a bargain price of just 500,- S.C. per standard cargo unit, shipping included. Orders will be placed on a regular basis depending on status of reserves by AP Global Procurement.

2. Train AP Engineering crews - complete. Krüger Mineralien had assigned a team of specialists to brief our very own crews on how to perform the engine conversion without their immediate assistance on site, as well as on key aspects of regular usage and maintenance.

3. Obtain reserves - complete. As the refit will commence, it is crucial to ensure that sufficient reserves of DT-Fuel are secured as to avoid immobility. Project management is considering mobilisation of AP Logistics for additional fuel shipping alongside Krüger Mineralien if deemed necessary at any time.

4. Refit the fleet - complete. It is estimated that once the training is complete, a complete refit of all APM vessels will be completed within a fortnight, whereas the entire Core Primary Fleet is to be running on DT-Fuel within no more then 30 days within the following weeks.

Nota bene: Completion of this project yields an additional value - it lays ground for reworking the energy distribution and propulsion in #361: PROJECT "SUSURRUS", with its primary point of interest being currently the Gallic mining craft, viz. Core|APM-Susurrus-2.

Memo:

Mr. Stuhl informed me that Krüger Mineralien has begun shipping fuel reserves to Yaren Base as outlined in phase three of the project, alongside with the training program. This initial order amounts to 25.000 standard cargo units, which should be enough to render the first vessels operational immediately after the refit.

After both, the APM Merchant Navy and The Core Primary Fleets are completely adjusted, we shall focus on the Susurrus-2 problem. Since adapting the Gallic engine is expected to be a daunting process, current tendencies are to swap it altogether for an APC equivalent and adjusting the power management systems accordingly.

Memo:

I have received word from Chairman Stuhl that the DT Fuel reserves have been successfully delivered to Yaren, thus rendering phase three of the project complete.

With training and briefing on the ins and outs of fueling conversion completed, we are hoping to finish the adjustments on the few remaining APM Merchant Navy craft shortly. A corresponding maintnance run on all Primary Fleet craft is scheduled to follow. Though AP Propulsion Lab is running behind schedule, the delay is well within the acceptable margin.

AP Global Procurement has been tasked with keeping Krüger up to date with the demand and thus ensure a steady supply.

Memo:

Last night we have blessed the last Krüger Mineralien Engineers farewell as they departed from Alabama Shipyard back to Rheinland space. Though some of the last war vessels are still undergoing engine conversion, we have learned all we need to properly retrofit and maintain DT fueled spacecraft. All standard issue APC generators mounted on stock craft shall henceforth utilize the new Krüger energy source. Audit therefore deems project "Ceres" complete.

Summary:
1. Procurement of a cost-efficient alternative to Deuterium
2. Cutting fuel expenses without loss to fleet mobility
3. Tightening relations with a Krüger Mineralien
4. Laying grounds for further development of project "Susurrus"
