I came home to my Skype sending out links once I turned on my PC so I assume it was compromised. Do not click anything.

Can I swear on the forums yet?
That's been a problem for Skype for a while. One of many reasons I stopped using it a while back.
Your daily reminder to only use reputable porn sites.
use discord, is saferBig Grin
Discovery still using Skype in 2018 absolutely astounds me.

Use Discord, y'all. Infinitely less crap in all facets.
ha ha, too bad discord still pushes its political agenda on everyone
Skype.
Pros:
Still used by a lot of people in Discovery.

Cons:
Ad-infested.
Filled with hackers.
Calls drop or lose clarity randomly.
Tries at every opportunity to force-update to a newer version (Which is usually worse).

Discord.
Pros:
Good call quality.
Can set multiple sub-channels within one channel, both text and voice.
Ad-free!
Dark default theme. Great on the eyes during late-night chatter!

Cons:
For some reason, not widely adopted by Discovery, yet?

Make the switch, folks! Discord all the way!
My thoughts regarding the above post's Skype cons:

Skype ads are easily disabled. I haven't seen a single one in years.
I've never had a Skype account hacked. A Skype account being hacked is not down to the program but to user error.
Never used Skype for calls, never had to. Voice is what I use the teamspeak server for.
Everything tries to force updates. I ignore everything.

Maybe Skype is "better" and maybe Discord is "better", I don't know. What I do know is that other than perhaps memory use, the perceived faults Skype has don't really exist.

What is discord's political agenda?
Skype for 1 on 1 channels works just fine, discord is a ton better for managing groups of people or having a conversation about multiple topics. You're also going to use a lot less resources running Discord with or without voice than running skype alongside teamspeak
