It's been a long time since I've been around here, so I want to be sure before I commit to a character I'm planning:
Is it ok for an Order ID'd character to buy and use a GMG gunship? I'm aware of the tech nerf it will result in (no getting around that, unfortunately), but as the ship will be primarily non-combat oriented it shouldnt matter too much in the end.
OoRP you can use any ship on any ID without breaking the server rules (except Nomad ships on human IDs). InRP everything has consequences, even in this case. If GMG didn’t approve it, them finding you with their only capital ship could and probably will end up badly.
If you don't care about the tech nerf, just go for it. It would be more appreciated if you would acquire the ship inRP by interacting with GMG, but since there is currently no real GMG faction with much ambition (a year ago, you could have done that with two!), it'd be hard to get an adequate RP going.
Otherwise, contact and ask whether he is up for something. Or as I got my GMG Gunship from RPing with her GMG Guildmistress Mia Takashi. Or try contacting and ask the primary fleet whether they have a GMG Gunship at disposal. Such things would allow you to reference it for a possible SRP to remove the technerf.

The Zoner whale also can only be flown by Zoners, or at least it used to last time I read its infocard couple of months ago. If the ship is restricted to a certain ID via rules, it should say so in its infocard.
