The Black Lotus
The story of the Black Lotus began quite bright. This name was meant to be a guardian of the borders of Liberty and Bretonia. Constructed in 823 A.S the Black Lotus is a Gunship with 4 crewments all specialised in one profession. Assasination. The Liberty Navy Defiant corvette Black Lotus consists of the 4 Crew members: James Cortez the captain, Engineer William Jones, Markus von Bremen a man with Rheinlandic roots who is specialised in tactics, and Sniper Bryan McMillers who was sent from the Bretonia Armed Forces to assist in the Black Lotus operation against Gallia and inner Libertonian enemies.
Captain: James Cortez
James Cortez, at the age of 45, is the oldest person under the command of the Black Lotus. His past was quiete average. Born on Planet Manhattan he had an unoworring childhood. After Graduating at the Miliatary academy of Westpoint at the age of 31, he became a Pilot. One day when he was just passing by on his way to his family, he saw Liberty Rogues attacking officers of the Liberty Police. immediately he moved in and gave his comrades orders how to fight back against the higher numbers of enemies. Because of that, and a report of the assaulted officers, where no casualties occurred, his commander recognized potential of great commanding skills. Because of this he was retired from his daily work, and sent back to the academy instead, to be tested. It turned out that James mastered every scenario at a 100% score. His age was 33 at that time. His final test will be on the field, when he was told that he will be the commander of a Liberty "Defiant"-class Gunboat...
Engineer: William Jones
In his past known as a nerd for his exordinary interest in technological innovations, he has always known that one day, he will be the chief engineer of an Atlantis Carrier. Having his goal in mind, he moved to the Academy at the age of 16 and already graduated at the age of 18 by skipping certain classes. Beeing told that he is too young to serve, he was put on reserve until he is old enaugh to enter the deep voids which this galaxy has to offer. Time passed by and his day shall come, it was 5 years ago when he was transfered on an Atlantis Carrier, called the Nevada. Unfortionally shortly after, the Nevada was destroyed by gallic forces, and the crew had to evacuate. A well known face found his escape pod and moved him safely home. This face, was James Cortez. Having a debt to pay, William requested to be put under the command of Mr. Cortez. 2 year later, when William just turned 27 he saw himself under the command of his rescuer.
Tactical Officer: Markus von Bremen
While James and William got a shared past, Markus saw their faces for the very first time. His parents were of Rheinlandic origin, but much more than his name... he doesn't remember anything. And his name is only known because his parents left a paper giving information about his identity. He was adopted by a childless Libertonian couple that just got married. It was one of this days, the ones when you wake up and you know something's wrong. Markus had this feeling. He was the tactical officer of a Liberty "Overlord"-class Dreadnought and successful because of his quick understanding of new and unknown situations. While others take way too long for a decision, he not only choose quick, but always accurate. The Liberation would never fall under his command. Not as long as he still breathes. His shift will begin in 20 minutes and he got to hurry if he won't be late. Beeing late is very bad considering his captain. She only tolerates a misstake once per person. But today it was different. A trebuchet strike hit the hull, and the lower section were teared appart. In a heavy fight, where half of the crew were lost due to hull breach, the Liberation escaped and reached Norfork. Until today he doesn't know the reason of his transfer to the Black Lotus, but fate will decide soon...
Sniper: Brian McMillers
McMillers is the by far youngest one on the Black Lotus. Beeing just 25, his eye is the sharpest and quickest within the entire Bretonia Armed Forces and Liberty Navy together. His story began on Planet Leeds where he lived until the Gallic Royal Navy took over the system. At that time most of the citizen were forced to flee to the neighboring systems, and so did he and his family. Burning vengeance plagued his mind and so did he apply for the Armed Forces. Hiding his broken and shattered nature from the officers, he degraded at the age of 23. He killed almost every enemie in combat and his supervisor recognized this as well as him. A growing ego can be the doom of a young man, but Brian seems to only get stronger by it. When the Liberty Navy reached out to their allies in Bretonia, they requested to help finding a man fitting for their needs. He must have an eye as sharp as an eagle and hit every shot. McMiller was promoted by his supervisor for this task, because he truely belived this could be the chance for his disciple, to come out in greatness. Unfortionally it shall not end as glorious as it started.
It was October the 1.st 823 A.S where the Black Lotus, which was the projects codename, started. The mission was to eradicate a fleet of pushing Gallic fighter vessels, and to protect the borders of Bretonia against the Roi. But... the soldiers, were not exactly that what we would expect them to be. One of them.. had glowing eyes. The leader as it seems, cut the line between the Black Lotus and the rest of the Bretonian forces. The fighters seemed to be specialised on taking corvette shields down, and one of their bombers mounted unknown missile systems, penetrating the hull. But it appears that they never intended to destroy the helpless ship. Instead they docked their fighters and entered the inner section trough a hole which one of their missiles shot. The Black Lotus was supposed to return to praise their victory which it eventually do, but nothing is as it seems to be anymore.
