Why would AI seek a recognised machine state? I know why humans would, but why would AI care if humans would recognise them as such?
To me it feels like human values are imposed on AI in this objective.

To answer that as simply as I can, isolation is safety. By creating defined borders and allegiances, the Collective will be in a significantly stronger position to ensure their security. By gaining more things under their recognised control they have fewer people contesting their claim, while gaining more resources. It's a very defensive approach.

A quick bump. We've just finished a couple of updates on the pages. Some minor lore changes along with some descriptions of our various threads and projects. More to come in the future, but we need to finish a bulk of the RP pertaining to some of them first.
