Faction Canonization Request Procedure

Purpose:

The role of the faction canonization request, henceforth FCR, is to help incorporate non-vanilla factions into the Game World. Canonizing a faction allows the development team to integrate a faction into the lore and overarching narrative of Discovery. By becoming canonized, your faction gains access to NPC Faction Assets, defined below, which are useful tools to help further the representation of your faction within the game.

In becoming canon, a leader’s rights to full control over the faction are waived. As a canon entity, your faction becomes an intrinsic part of the lore and is subject to storyline changes and impact beyond your control. The development team reserves the right to use your faction’s assets or actions to develop the story. Developments of the story can affect, negatively or positively, your faction’s future. In addition, a non-official ID will be created for your faction, and independent players will be able to use that to play as your faction.

Definitions:

PF IFF: A temporary server-side IFF, used for event factions and trialing the canonization of non-vanilla factions.
True IFF: An IFF that is integrated into the game like standard NPC factions, with bribes, NPC spawn lists, bar NPCs, missions and its own relationships/empathy towards other factions.
NPC Faction Asset: IFF, NPC Patrols, Bases, Infocards, Equipment and Ships.

Procedure:
  • Application following the Application Template below. No template, no action.
  • Approval by the Story Team
  • 3 Months trial period under a PF IFF
  • FCRs make use of a limited number of PF-IFFs, and if none are available, any FCR will have to hold for an available PF-IFF.
  • Once criteria are fulfilled, faction transfers to a True IFF and becomes canonized into the game world.

Canonization Requests must be posted in the Development Requests Forum.
