i'm new to sig making and was deciding which program would be the easiest to make a sig, preferably a free program if possible.
GIMP and PAINT.NET are free but most artists around these parts use Adobe Photoshop, its really not that hard to torrent it..and it comes out totally free too
I am using Adobe Photoshop CS (first generation). I never update to newer version, and I'm just fine with all my functionalities.
I use Serif PhotoPlus. Easy to use, easy to learn as well.

The sigs I am using, I've made with it. I'm no great sig artist myself, but I like it.
i use iGrafx Picture Publisher 9 and for some stuff i use Photoshop CS 2 Extended
i always enjoy seeing what people use to make some signatures
photoshop cs3 extended here..
Paint Shop Pro wasn't that bad either, although I haven't used it in a looong while - cause I'm a Photoshop-aholic bitch - but I remember it, from my noob days (that stretched to this very day..:P)
Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended.
Gimp would be a good program to use, it is powerful but the layout can be a bit more complicated than photoshop.
Gimp is good, free, and made by Linux.
