Here is the formalised note announcing the creation of the Service astrométrique et cartographique de la Marine, henceforth referred to as SACMar.
Considering the following :
- Increased distances between theatres,
- Observed need for rapid redeployment of forces,
- Evolving Gallic sphere of inflience,
- Constant need for rare resources,
Amiral Montlaville de Chanteloup has concluded that the MRG should undergo a modernisation across the fleet in regards to navigational capabilities. Contracts are being signed with the 410th army to equip several of our ships with jump drives, including the model 4 that allows to redeploy entire fleets on a whim. These engines present significant strategic advantages, but they will require coordinates to operate properly. This will be at the heart of SACMar, along with many other tasks focused around science and data collection.

SACMar PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
- Feed and update Gallic spatial coordinates databanks. A comprehensive list of coordinates, including all military hotspots of interest to Gallia, must be established by SACMar operatives. A wing of specialised transports will be set up for this purpose.
- Explore areas of interest. Gallia needs knowledge and resources to maintain its edge against its enemies. Awareness of the world that surrounds us, and the location of potential nodes of rare materials are of primordial importance to us. Expeditions will be set up to that effect under the SACMar flag.
- Special deliveries. For various reasons, the MRG may need to dispatch or retrieve special cargo to or from far-reaching places, in support of the construction of advanced hardware. SACMar transports will be set up for these occasions.
- Produce scientific data. The Sirius sector seems to enjoy a bit of a technological renaissance, and scientific data is highly prized by various actors. This rush has seemingly lead to the development of new, sophisticated weaponry and equipment that have caught our engineers and tacticians by surprise. Gallia must adapt and enter this game, as well. Science liners will be sent after anomalies, whether in our space or beyond, to collect the precious data.

Gallic cartography division
- MRG|Beautemps-Beaupré : Perilous gunboat equipped with a mk3 scanner
- MRG|Dumont.d'Urville : Vache
- MRG|Marion.Dufresne : Vache
Foreign cartography division
- One Triumph or Obstinate-class warship with a mk2 scanner ;
- One Aurochs-class freighter.
These ships will be made available to anyone volunteering to serve a term in the SACMar.
Any MRG personnel may commission SACMar ships by themselves, in respect of the following naming convention.
- Naming convention : MRG|French scientist, or French natural formation, or any constellation, natural phenomenon and whatnot, in French. IE : MRG|Antares.

Finally, a repository of available jump coordinates will be created and shared on secure channels. Contributors to this list will be handsomely rewarded.
