CLASSIFICATION : CONFIDENTIEL DEFENSE
Never, in our history, has our service been called to decisive action on so many areas at once, against so many foes, and with so many end goals. It is truly our heure de gloire, and each of your actions in the coming weeks will determine the course of history, and the future of billions.
For the sake of clarity and efficiency, amiral Chanteloup has voiced the need for specific operations, each tailored to a current area of interest to the MRG. Each operation will have its commander, with a possible rotation every month if it is deemed suitable. Opération Talleyrand is the first among these operations. Cliff notes below.
TACTICAL SITUATION : Gallia has struck Liberty with the goal of keeping it busy and unable to directly support Bretonia in its last ditch defense of its homeland. These efforts have proven generally successful, though at a significant cost. With the loss of the diversion's flagship (The Bétheny), only one battlegroup currently remains in Libertonian space, the Carcassonne, positioned deep within California. It is a daring move, and talks of retreating it closer to the border worlds are in progress. But so far, the objective is simple : maximum continued pressure, using morale-shattering hit-and-run attacks.
DESIRED FINAL OUTCOME : put a complete and decisive stop to Libertonian military operations along the Magellan corridor.
PRIORITY 1 : Incapacitation of all immediate threats.
PRIORITY 2 : Shattering of the enemy's morale for the purposes of deterrence and war weariness.
PRIORITY 3 : Keeping a functioning battlegroup for as long as necessary - avoid unnecessary force commitment.
LOCATION : California system.
PREDICTED ENEMY FORCES : large, first-rate military. Danger level is very high. Liberty may be cornered but it's far from beaten and enjoys considerable resources.
REQUIRED ALLIED FORCES : the Carcassonne and her accompanying fleet. No reinforcements planned at this time.
TIME : Until all combat potential has run out, or until further notice.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT : the Etat-major favours the use of lightning strikes over lumbering capital formations, but priority 1 remains victory on the field.
