WAR OVER TOULOUSE
The Council's struggle to defend against the Royalist Incursion fails!
Many struggle to cope.
By: Katie Sumner

The Taus were in an uproar earlier today as a broadscan transmission from the Gallic News Service reared its head across the sector. Many were aware of the fighting within the Roussillon system, and many feared the outcome of the battle. There was doubt in the air, but none could have possibly expected a catastrophe of this magnitude.

Planet Toulouse, Roussillon system

After months of constant fighting, countless prodding raids and the destruction of the border station of the system after a failed assault on the Issoudon Drydock in Edinburgh, the Royal Navy finally brought war to the Council's civilian front door. The lack of respite for these noncombatants had spread like wildfire within the Tau cluster, but with the Royal incursion last week we've finally received our answer as to the ambitions of the Royal Navy. A daring defense by the Council, in conjunction with the Maquis, Crayterians, and even the Republic's own military stood fast in the effort of preventing the planet's fall. Fortunes were turning, but it was clear to the Council that this was their last chance to leave the Royal Navy with nothing to gain.

"It was a terrible sight, honestly. I was there, and I knew that in that fighting there were plenty of good, honest men and women who suffered a terrible end at the hands of those invaders. My heart goes out to them, but I can at least rest easy knowing that the effort we made prevented more from being lost. Plenty of refugees made it offworld, and I'm glad they're finding new lives elsewhere. No one deserves to live in tyranny."

Teniente Eva Cazalla was among the brave of the Armed Forces who attempted to hold back the Royal advance last Saturday. While many did suffer the fate she'd knew of, the actions of the vanguard force at Toulouse prevented a larger loss of life, and assisted in the stalling of Royalist forces for long enough for ground crews to line the planet's surface with heavy-issue military grade nuclear warheads. While brutish, the effectiveness of these warheads have halted the Royalist incursion as the forces of EFL aim to fix the issue.

The Armed Forces has plans to launch strike wings to interrupt these efforts within the near future.

In similar news, the Royalist ambition of invasion has seeped into the deeper Bretonian systems as Edinburgh and Orkney have been illegally claimed by the marauding Gallic flotillas.

Planet Gaia, Edinburgh system
Much to the dismay of the local Gaians, efforts by the Gallic Civilian Expansion Corps have proven to be traumatizing as they plan to deprave Planet Gaia of its colonial virginity, and thus forever contaminating the planet with the stench of Royalist boots.

Many within the Republic have stated in outcries of this travesty, demanding that swift action be taken to dislodge the Royalist presence from Edinburgh and from Gaia entirely, though these cries have since been tempered with thoughts of the homeland.

"We mustn't forget the overarching fact that the resistance for Edinburgh and Gaia as a whole is alive and well in the south. Many within the system proper will likely continue to fight for its freedom as they have done for the past seven years. Support for the cause will be sent as it can be, but we must not let this distract ourselves from the overall goal that lies ahead. Rest assured that Gaia will be liberated and returned to those who will lend it the proper care and treatment."

This statement by Secretary of State Horatio Esposita was taken overall at face value, the man himself known for his up-front yet caring personality. Regardless of the Royalist plans for the planet, Mr. Esposita has continued to press the assurance that the planet will be avenged, and the Royalist forces of Gallia will 'pay for their crimes against both mankind and nature alike'.

The Tau Sector is expected to become hot over the next few weeks. Many within the Republic have expressed relief as well as regret, wishing more could have been done for those who had lost their lives as well as their homes. However, as it stands what has been done is done, and the most anyone can do right now is pray that the situation becomes better as time passes. We certainly will.

Meanwhile, we wish everyone a safe journey and a good night. This has been the Maltese News Service.
