You might or might not already know, that even a good PC seems to have issues with Freelancer and Fraps, seems like i found the solution to this annoying issue.

Brutally simple, actually: Reduce resolution to 800x600x16

really, from 6fps i got, now i get 38, while not the usual 60fps, when not frapsing, its a nice change.
It's not that simple I fear.
It took me some evaluation and I figured out that I need to set my antialasing setting to 8x to gain a 60fps rate with fraps.
Any other antialasing setting messed up the fps rate (below 10).
Done with 1024x768 and 1400x900 settings with a nv8800GTS
I'm not sure what fps issue you guys are talking about, but i always run freelancer in windowed mode. Everytime you start freelancer in windowed mode the fps is all messed up and laggy (fraps says about 45fps), when i then change the resolution (doesn't matter to what), everything runs smoothly (fraps says about 160fps).

So if you are talking about that one, that isn't caused by fraps, but by freelancer itself.
