Event Background.


With the repairs of Aland underway and the Norfolk departed to New London, the Order and Independent Miners Guild decided that this is their 'do or die' moment and launch a surprise assault on Bretonia after several months of laying low. The HMS Leviathan, a carrier class warship, is currently in drydock for maintenance on Aland Shipyard. Seeing a chance to strike a blow to Bretonia, Gallic intelligence forces launch a simultaneous assault on the trade lanes by the freeport, creating an additional distraction on top of the assault on New London and cutting off Alands defenders from potential capital ship support.

Core vessels, having intercepted news of Gallic forces incoming, swiftly fabricated a believable excuse for temporarily pulling away from the station so as to not risk damaging their diplomatic standing with either of the two houses. Aland shipyards defense now lays in the hands of the local Bretonian wings as contact with the Core vessels has been lost and the second wave of Order and IMG vessels appear on scanners.

Currently unbeknownst to the defenders is that several transports filled with explosives are among the attackers and set to ram the stations weakspots.


Objectives.


Defenders:
  • Take out transports before they reach Aland Shipyard ("Reach" is defined as getting as close as 100m or less). 1 point per transport destroyed outside of reach.
  • Defeat the most enemies. 4 points (as counted by how many waves won, not individual kills).
  • Defeat the final wave before the Leviathan succesfully activates its Jump Drive Engines (4 minutes). 2 points.

Attackers:
  • Escort the transports so they succesfully reach Aland Shipyard ("Reach" is defined as getting as close as 100m or less). 1 point per transport escorted succesfully.
  • Defeat the most enemies. 4 points (as counted by how many waves won, not individual kills).
  • Last longer in the final wave than 4 minutes or defeat the defenders within that time. 2 points.



Event rules.

The event will consist of four waves, respawning inbetween waves is allowed but repairing and restocking isn't.
This means even if you lose a wave you might have sufficiently weakened the opposite side to give you a chance in the next wave.

As we have no way to enforce the above rule and staff have signaled it as a rule people will most likely break the following rule is in effect instead:
The event will consist of four waves, respawning is allowed as is repairing and restocking. Note that server rules are still in effect; docking with a hostile
around is still a nono, event or not.

There will be four transports in total, a wave can include anywhere from 0 to 2 transports at a time, be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

As you may have noticed this event includes objectives as well as points for both sides, you may also have noticed the first post after this is reserved.
The point amount will decide who wins the event and to what degree.
A point majority indicates a victory and both sides having equal points a draw.
After the event the reserved post will be edited to reflect the outcome of the event and hint towards what may come next.

This means which (player made) follow up event occurs depends on the outcome of this event.
General rules.


Standard PvP rules apply. Registration is mandatory. Stay in the fight, no restocking, no running to hug solars.
Equipment rules - no SHF, no Dual novas bombers, no Cloaks, no NEMP (glorified flashbangs).
Location: Right half of the Omega 3 system.

All BAF, SIS, BPA, Order, IMG and Gallic Intelligence IDs are eligible for registration.
Other registrations are allowed as long as the ID's make sense but will be considered reserves to fill out the slots as needed.
(feel free to motivate your registration if it isn't conventional, as well as for what side you wish to fly)


Additional slots could be added if both sides would have enough numbers. Feedback is welcome.

Event Outcome.


The surprise assault of the combined fleets of the Order and IMG may have caught the Bretonians off guard, but the defenders of the crown did not hesitate for a moment. Alands defenses bolstered the defending wings; raining down fire and brimstone towards the attackers. Unfortunately, while the defenders bravely fought off the attacking onslaught of ships, the transport ships filled with explosives went completely unnoticed; ramming the stations weakspots as designated by its former owners.

Potentially to the surprise of unlookers, one of the transports didn't seem to detonate on impact. At least, not immediately. Unbeknownst to the valiant defenders in space, beating back the attackers, a boarding crew of Order Agents had snuck onboard, delaying the detonation until they were out of the blast zone. The stations crew tried to mount a defense, but were quickly incapacitated through what appeared to be some kind of gas spreading through the air filtration system. It would seem the Order had studied how the fall of Aland had taken place and replicated the results.

Meanwhile, the fight outside continued to rage, reinforcements for the Order and IMG vessels finally appearing to slow down to a trickle. There had been four waves of attackers battering the station and its defenders mercilessly for the past two hours and the fight was clearly taking a toll on both sides. Cleaning up these final attackers proved no easy task, though Bretonia eventually succeeded. The Leviathan however, had departed in the chaos of the battle. Jumped away with a prototype Jump Drive to a currently unknown location.

With the assault over, Bretonia would have to quickly investigate the damage to the station to ensure it would remain operational. At the same time, an Invincible class carrier was now missing as well. The Order and IMG were succesfull in achieving their objectives but did not do so without suffering losses, while the IMG's resources in the area are significant, it seems unlikely the Order will launch another attack on Aland station anytime soon.

Mind making a tl;dr? Not saying for my sake, but some people have busy days and the event page is long.

Aland: "launch defense."

followed by several waves of attackers with transport targets mixed in.
Posting here to say that this is not a canon story event. This is an event to help a guy steal an SRP ship. My crediting in this thread has nothing to do with it being officially sanctioned by the development team, I only offered a little bit of advice on how to streamline the mechanics.
