Lord Mountbatten Confirmed Dead

NEW LONDON - Earlier today, a spokesman from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office confirmed that search and rescue personnel found the body of Foreign Minister Lord George Mountbatten, Duke of Westminster, buried in the rubble of the FCO Building in the City of Westminster. Lord Mountbatten had been declared missing during the Gallic bombardment, when the FCO Building was destroyed by enemy fire. Most of the FCO's personnel were able to evacuate to a shelter underneath the building, but Lord Mountbatten chose to remain behind, working to coordinate the evacuation of the offices personnel. Contact has been made with the people inside the shelter, confirming they remain in good health. Authorities expect to have the shelter opened within 24 hours.

Lord Mountbatten is best remembered for the September Rebellion of 816, where he briefly attempted to sieze the throne based on fraudulent genealogical information recieved from his dying father. His subsequent pardon, political career, and eventual elevation to the office of Prime Minister has been the subject of continued controversy ever since.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his daughter Sarah, and his son John. Lady Sarah Mountbatten is a senior Director of the Secret Intelligence Service, and will inherit her father's titles and his seat in the House of Lords.
