Project Sensōhana

12/11/826 A.S.

Project Warflower has been initiated to create the next generation Golden Chrysanthemum fighters. By studying the recovered Kusari Naval ship parts, we will attempt to create our own Very Heavy Fighter, codenamed 'Iris' in order to have an effective counter against the superiour naval fighters.

The Iris fighter will be developed using the technology available to us. By combining the maneuverabily of the Blossom Heavy Fighter with the armor and core of the Orchid Bomber, We hope to create a ship which is better armored and has more firepower, without sacrificing too much of its agility, compared to GC's main Fighter, the Blossom.

Additional reports will be made as the project progresses

We have decided to use the frame of the Orchid as template. By modifying and streamlining it, we will reduce its mass, while keeping most of its durability. Its reactor will be replaced by a modified Blossom reactor that has a higher energy output and a better relay system that was developed by studying the retrieved parts of KNF Fighters. This reactor is currently a prototype and experimental.

Testing of its performance will commence as soon as we created the first Iris prototype and we will use the results to continue its development. The vessel will have only the most basic hardware on board during this phase.

Iris prototype is ready for its first flight test. The test pilot is squad leader Yunoki Misaki. She volunteered for it. The first Iris fighter is still devoid of weaponary, shielding and has only the most basic life support systems. Basicly it is just a frame with engines, controls and a reactor.

This test is to evaluate the flight performance of the Iris VHF. Yunoki-san is a good choise for this assignment. If she can't wreck the prototype, it will be presumed safe.

Do not worry, the escape pod is the standard pod we always used so she runs no real risk.

First flight test completed. Yunoki-san is still alive.

The Iris VHF performed well within the estimated parameters. The Iris reactor seemed to be unreliable and it failed once the ship initiated cruising speed. We have detected the flaw and it was an easy fix. The ship will be optimised using the gathered flight data and be readied for the next testing phase.

We will also start integrating the powergrid for the weapon systems and equip the vessel with a shield for the first combat test. We will also build a second Iris hull to do a stress test to see how much protection it offers against conventional fighter weaponary

The third version of the Iris prototype has been completed and is fully operational. The first reactor readings show that it has sufficient output to power all fighter systems and that the power grid is stable. We can now begin with actual combat performance tests against other fighters. At this stage we will simulate fighter combat with real weapons. To keep some measure of safety we will use screamer mines instead of nuclear mines and we break off the engagement once the hull reads less than 25% on either of the participants.

For the 'Iris' GC Very heavy fighter we will use the following loadout.
  • 4 gun hardpoints have been mounted with Suncannons.
  • 2 gun hardpoints have been mounted with Imp. Debilitators
  • Missile hardpoint is ready and mounted with a mosquito cruise disruptor.
  • Screamer mines have been installed to reduce the threat to the ship's hull during the combat tests.
  • Fortress countermeasures

Final ship design is completed, tested and ready for deployment on the field. We are calibrating our ship manufacturing machinery to allow for rapid production of the 'Iris' Very Heavy fighters.

Expect the first ships to be completed in the near future.
