I'm curious as to what the voting populations thinks on this.
Multiboxing is banned as it can let players work more in less time.
Perhaps though its time to reconsider how bad it is for the server. I can think of a few reasons that lifting the ban would create a few new interesting scenarios here:
~It would end the problem of multiple players logging from the same IP (if that hasn't been solved some other way)
~It would increase the amount of ships-player ratio. I really can't think of it being that bad to come across a miner filling up 2 or 3 transports. They can't fight with all of them at the same time, and they'd only get pulled along in formation like drone ships. So you pirate 3 transports instead of one? It would seem to make sense that you'd be expected to pay more the more you have/work. So a pirate would make more per encounter as well.
~Traders could fill for themselves easier yes, and haul drone 'convoys' as they trade. I know this may mean in some way they trade less instances, but while they do trade, they will be a little slower, and the drone ships would be very vulnerable. They'd either go the extra mile to bring escorts, or do it themselves. But one player in a fighter defending 2 unpiloted transports is still going to have a hard time saving them. So groups may still form to protect the 'drone' ships, or the player accepts the higher risk.
~Carriers. The same as it is with some transports, any ship able to mount a docking module becomes a carrier. It would be nice to be able to fly your own carrier, and another small ship, and leave your carrier in space partially monitored while you and others may use the carrier. You could still fly a smaller craft but still operate the docking of the carrier ship yourself.
I know this is another taboo suggestion but after this much time it may be a good way to artificially inflate the population and give players new stuff to figure out. More ships may be used by less parties, but they are almost always going to be more vulnerable, needing more defense, or making easy piracy targets. As far as I know, no one can fly and fight with 2 ships at a time. If you can, you deserve your victory! So in all cases, when fighting starts, a player will need to prioritize, but there would usually be some chance to catch them off guard. Personally I don't think I'll be able to do much of it but I wouldn't mind finding more ships in the ore field to pirate, or in formation when pirating a trade lane. The main pitfall is that not everyone has more than one computer or computers able to run multiple instances of FL at the same time, only some players would be able to get the advantage.
