MAE - Production & Facilities

Miquelon Factory & Refinery

Miquelon Factory and Refinery were established on 23rd February, 743 A.G.S. on planet Bordeaux near the growing town of Uxeau-de-Bordeaux. Proximity to the town that acts as the seat of Montluc family and HQ of MAE allows for easy and rapid commuting of the personnel and avails better level of protection for the facility by the corporate security and baronial guard that do not have to divide forces to ensure the safety of both the town and the facility. The factory is located within the town walls and is similarly protected by positron shields from aerial and artillery attacks, while electric fence fends off the especially curious local wildlife. As of now, the plant employs 872 people who mostly coordinate the work of automatic assembly lines and robotic workers on which the facility heavily relies.

Miquelon Factory & Refinery relies on the local natural resources found in abundance on Bordeaux. Two mines were established in the vicinity of the town that is mostly automatic and has a skeleton crew to control the automatic minerals and ore extraction. The resources are delivered on a train line to the town and this supply line remains the biggest weakness in the local supply chain.

Located not far from the main settlement of the Enclave on Caudéran, the production is readily exported to the clients in the administrative heart of the Enclave. The production ranges from hand weapons and personal electronics to personal servo-robots. However, a high militarisation of the Enclave and abundance of resources prompted MAE to deploy the production of heavy military machinery and equipment for the needs of local ground forces. Miquelon also produces a limited number of spacecraft and serves as a planet-based shipyard for smaller ships due to MAE shipyards in space not yet deployed. Currently, the R&D department of Miquelon is entrusted with the new project of MAE regarding rapidly deploying self-assembling buildings that would facilitate the colonization of Bordeaux and further exoplanetary colonization ambitions of the Baron.

All battleships begin from Normandie-class, were equipped with the incredibly destructive non-nuclear-weapon named the Warwolf after, perhaps, the largest trebuchet ever built on ancient Earth. Capable of obliterating conventional cruisers in one hit to their hull or causes massive concussion waves throughout battleships and dreadnoughts, incapacitating crew members that somehow survive the impact. This cannon is also able to siege the hostile stations but the weapon's energy requirements and long recharge time are significant and are its only disadvantage.

To compensate for this disadvantage and even increase the siege potential of the Valor-class battleship was necessary to have an incredibly heavy weapon, the main purpose of what is the siege of stations in question. This weapon was developed on the base of RBT-1000 "Schwerer Gustav", the delivered of which was delivered by one of the Gallic Junkers to GRN R&D during the war between Liberty and Rheinland. The gallic version of the RBT-1000 was a rare sign during the entire war with Bretonia, appearing on the very particular battleships in the very particular cases, used only for a siege of heavily fortified stations, where Warwolfes and a regular heavy weapon was not efficient enough.

Following the request of the Marshalcy of Gallia, the MAE did not just construct the same cannon but improved it. The weapon, developed on the base of the Gallic version of RBT-1000 was named Frontibale-class. The cannon is still a slow firing weapon but its significant destructive potential was increased as well as energy consumed. As a true siege weapon, useless against any moving target, but its ability to tear down fortifications is unparalleled even by the heavy Cerberus type. Theoretically, the Frontibale should be capable to heavily damage any slow large warship or even smaller ones, accidentally flew into the vector of fire of the projectile.

Despite the successful start of the Frondibale project, it is still in the testing stage and only the further performances can provide this weapon with required optimization and re-calibration. Every single unit of this weapon requires more recourses that regular Mons Meg or Cerberus-class turret and its siege specialization is not allowing to use it as a regular weapon for the Enclave fleet.

THEORETICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Optimal range Projectile speed Recharge
2800m 190m/s 2.5 seconds

Test platform: RES Honneur, provided for the field tests by the Marshalcy of Gallia
Ship class: Richelieu-class Battleship, Commissioned in 719 AGS
Quantity of prototypes: 4x Frondibale-class prototype cannons
Test status: IN PROGRESS

RES Honneur is the Richelieu-class Battleship commissioned in 719 AGS. The battleship survived many combats but after the years of service to the Royal Fleet became outdated and requires major refitting. Instead of upgrading it to more relevant Valor or even Conquerant-class was decided to develop a separate single platform based on Richelieu-class hull. After the refit, it has to become a siege platform, specialized in the destruction of hostile modular constructions.

A powerful fusion reactor should allow the ship to maintain new equipment and keep performing well on the battlefield for the duration no less than 10 minutes of maximum firepower mode before the reactor begin to recharge itself. An autonomous flight of the ship with this reactor is about 70 years but can change depends on the exploitation.

Engineering task: Upgrade regular cruiser turret to a rapid-firing turret for cruiser-class ships with improved aiming module for better targeting at smaller targets.

The experience of the Second Gallia War and following escalation into the War with Allies has shown the lack of flexibility of the Gallic fleet. Unfortunately, this defect still exists within the ranks of the Enclave navy and many ships still can act only against a limited number of types of the ship their cannons are capable to track without the direct involvement of the operator. Since the Enclave is still suffering the lack of people the widespread automatization is required but should never replace humans as the most capable of deciding what is right and what is not.

The CRFT-P1 (short for Cruiser Rapid-fire turret Prototype #1) should be capable of tracking the targets of its size without issues and even being capable of stable tracking ships smaller than gunboat.

Based on regular GRN turrets design with improved details, in the case of success of the project, it shall be one of the cheapest heavy cruiser turrets Enclave can produce. Instead of constructing the turret from zero, all that is needed is to enhance a regular cruiser turret up to the CRFT-P1. Its theoretical damage should be lower than brethren and more popular C-25 "Cerberus", however, the energy consumption should be much lower and allow to use fewer resources for exploitation.

THEORETICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Optimal range Projectile speed Firing rate
1800m 1000m/s 3 shoots per second

Test platform: RES Chevalier Patrick
Ship class: Triumph-class cruiser, Commissioned in 740 AGS, provided for tests by Enclave secondary fleet
Quantity of prototypes: 2x CRFT-P1 turrets
Test status: IN PROGRESS

One of the many patrol cruisers deployed in the system of Aquitaine for observing purposes and preventing any unlawful activity in the area of its deployment, RES Chevalier Patrick is one of the most optimal test platforms. Its field is mostly Gaians and smugglers that decided to cut off via the Hebrides without letting Enclave to know or paying the fee for passage.

The potential benefit of these turrets should increase the combat capacities against the wings of Gaian small craft or better aiming at smuggler freighters and small transports.
