Located in the Encinacorba province of Malta, sitting at the edge of a river, stands a walled complex of considerable age. The complex is is compromised of a few scattered buildings with one prominent central building showing millennia old Earth architecture re-created upon this far-flung human colony. Sitting atop a balcony of the structure, two old men appear to be conversing.

Joaquín Ortega

In a low-hushed tone, as though what he was about to say was taboo. "Mi amigo, I swear to the spirits... She was the fastest selling servant I ever got a hold of!" he then made an elaborate expression with his hands, a clear indication that the servant he was talking about was indeed, was at least two hands full.

Alexandro Torres

Torres laughs and gently smacks his hand down on the table in front of him a few times, "I remember, I remember that one. You grabbed that one in erm..." Alexandro is cut short as his memory fails him.

Joaquín Ortega

Recounting the encounter like it was only yesterday, Ortega explains rather intently, "Ahhh, we were raiding down in Cortez... Came across a lonely passenger ship after intercepting them in the lane. Decided to say hello in the standard tradition of the Outcasts, had to get rough with a few of them when we boarded. I wasn't expecting much from this transport, but surprise, surprise! I came across a beauty."

Torres leans back in his chair, his gaze drifting off over the expanse of Malta in front of him. "Si... Si, you sold her to the Pérez family." Alexandro then lifts one hand up to his mouth, he'd begin stroking one side of his mustache, a habit he has adopted. "Didn't you also sell them that former Xeno?"

Joaquín Ortega

Sighs softly. "Uhhh... I wish you didn't remind me mi amigo... There is a reason we don't bother raiding the prisoner transportation convoys in Texas anymore." Ortega then slams his hand on the table, becoming more verbally agitated, "You know -that- Xeno, causing -that- riot, on the Pérez plantation made me lose them as customers." His tone then swiftly changes to a less angered expression, "Well... At least for a few years, then the old man died. The son was much more understanding."

Torres glances over to Ortega, "Amigo, you do not need to get so angry here." Alexandro then offers Ortega a quick smile, "Those rioters got put down for thinking they could do what they felt like. And we don't bring Xenos here anymore, so no more worries."

Ortega recoils and slumps back into the chair. "Bahh, you're right. Its in the past now... Although we still bring Xenos here."

Torres squints at Oretga, "Amigo, you just said you don't raid those transports anymore..."

Ortega gives a quick glance to the sky, and squints. Thinking back on their conversation. "We don't hit those transports anymore because they upped the escort. Not worth the risk anymore." He'd then look back to Torres, "We had to issue guidelines with the Xenos we sell, how to break them into their new role in life and what not... Although, there is some new niche market that popped up after that riot. The more well off, but bored hermanos and hermanas have taken to breaking them as a hobby.

Torres' face scrunches slightly upon listening to Ortega talk about the niche in his business, however whatever thought just crossed his mind is quickly dismissed, "I guess we -all- must do what we must do for the good of Malta, amigo."
