We can abuse AI Cruisers via using cruise mode, after distance between NPC ships and you above 4.8 they stop moving and seems disabled. Ships on mission can be devided and lured away (with such AI trigger ranges) and as result, can be easily killed.
Abusing such bug greatly reduce missions difficulty level. And missions created for group of players or "late-game" strong battleships in mind, can be done solo, on cruiser/gb.

Well, how this happens? We simple come to mission, wait for spawn, and when they come to pew pew (you are already charging your cruise engine) you are fly away on cruise to reach a distance between you and ships above 4.8k.
This has been a part of FL since forever, I believe it's defined in pilots_population.ini
BUT, the method you are describing is inefficient at burning up NPC cap squads, so while it is easier, your credits/hour are reduced far too much for luring to be viable. The ultimate mission cheese strat is still dual Nightmare with a cloaked friend at the waypoint.
