Full Version: Redudant line on House Intel IDs

All house intel IDs have a line specifying:

Intel IDs Wrote:Outside Zone of Influence:

- Cruisers can only attack in self-defence.

This line seems to be redundant as the server rules (2.8) apply a similar solution to all IDs.

2.8 Wrote:Defend ships of the same affiliation anywhere except in cruisers or above outside of ZOI.

On top of that, Gallia, Kusari and Bretonia house intel and military IDs have an extra line that allows them to engage combat ships of foreign houses in Taus, which is outside of their ZOI, the key difference is that military IDs do not have such restriction when using warships, but intel IDs do:

GNI ID Wrote:This Gallic Intelligence ID is used by members of the Gallic National Intelligence, who:

- Can attack any ship to protect allies.

- Can attack Combat Ships and engage in piracy against Trade Ships belonging to factions considered hostile by Gallia.

- Can attack ships which belong to non-allied Intelligence groups.

- Can demand Nomad Materials from any ship.

- Can attack combat ships belonging to Bretonia and Kusari within Taus.

- Can enforce laws within Gallia House Space.

- Cannot use battleships or ships with more than 4300 cargo space.

The ID as it is written now seems confusing and has conflicting lines, wouldn't make more sense if house intel IDs had the out of ZOI line removed or modified and the server-wide rules were applied to out of ZOI engagement? It would also effectively exclude Taus as the ID specifically allows engagement there and IDs override server-wide rules, and it would make little sense that intel factions couldn't attack hostile combat ships or assist allied navies for being on cruisers in a contested zone.
House intel IDs also have more lines that allow engagement anywhere to specific targets regardless of ship being used, that could be addressed by adding "except when using cruisers outside of ZOI" to those lines.
House Intel IDs can engage outside of ZOI in many different circumstances, including just straight up engaging any hostile combat ship anywhere. That restriction is there so Intel IDs don't go crazy with cap raids across Sirius - there is no interaction with Server Rule 2.8, that is simply a global allowance that all IDs have.

It has weird interactions with the Tau line for KOI, BIS, and GNI, but is working as intended otherwise.
Those specific IDs with their unusual Tau line might need some work, though.
