I'm sorry how do you expect any Freelancer IFF to work at all then.
Most players just select their target ship anyway, and I definitely didn't ask for additional crosshairs in the line of fire drawing shots away to friendlies. Yet, I still got these annoying little crosshairs.
Just don't fly in front of me.

Yeah but what if it's the others flying in front me?
1. Revert.
2. Add a “/freelancer” command to put Freelancer IFF at -0.9.
3. Enforce the Freelancer IFF on the Freelancer ID.

That's pretty much the only reasonable play, as this change is still essential if you want to have any fun fighting neutral (Freelancer) targets in a Gunboat or larger. It's awful and your combat effectiveness is almost halved if you have to retarget 20 times a second to keep shooting the closest ship.
Do keep in mind that that /freelancer command would also prevent you from docking on a handful of stations in the game, like Fontana Freeport for example, making it still pretty miserable in many cases.

Yes, this, the only issue I ever had was when green targets shot me and I killed another green target coming in, which will happen even more now without them being selected? You're targeting them anyways, it's just an extra click? But now there's an issue every single fight - I am just confused, as a cap player is all.

Seems like skill issue tbh, just zoom out more?
