The Rheinland Military and especially the Marinenachrichtendienst have long considered how to deal with the thorn in Thuringia's side that is Valhalla Shipyard. With previous conventional tactics bearing too much cost on stretched fleet resources, and new, technologically-focused strategy has been the focus on hushed discussions. However, just as a conventional force build-up can be discovered via sensors, the human element of any top-secret project leaves it open to infiltration.
Due to the concern of both RM and MND heads about suspected Wild activity in Rheinland, project Gift has entered an accelerated timeline. Technology found in the ruins of Weimar, previously referred to as "Dragon's Egg" or simply "the weapon", has undergone continuous testing ever since its discovery in the early years after the nomad war. With a looming deadline becoming a stark reality, many R&D specialists have raised voices of concern about what will actually happen if the device is activated in full force. With a magnetospheric eruption from Planet Gotha giving the researchers a brief glimpse into the consequences of abusing unknown technology, many are uncomfortable at the implications for Thuringia as a whole.
Such concerns, while fully valid within the scientific community, have met with a stony silence from the command-level personnel. With geopolitical concerns that require a holistically-intact and technologically advanced Rheinland, the continual threat of Valhalla cannot remain unanswered. Therefore, instead of pausing or shutting down the project while the ranks of the intelligence community are carefully purged, a decision has been made to move to the final phase. After all, the main questions that remain are not about the usage of the device itself, but rather the consequences of its use. And in this case, the devil you know proves sufficiently terrifying to stop worrying about alternatives.
The RNC-Kolleda, already at the end of its effective lifespan in the service, has one last task before it can be laid to rest. With a crew and officer corps made up completely of volunteers, most of its servicemen and women know that their actions will reverberate through the history of Rheinland. But even with gung-ho attitudes reaching borderline unhealthy limits, many know deep in their bones that the operation will not proceed as planned. The Wild are always ready to defend their biggest bastion in Rheinland to the last man, and the Nomads are a terrifying prospect to face in a cutting-edge prototype not geared for conventional war. While no one doubts that the Kolleda will see his task through to the end, many privately wonder whether he (and themselves alongside) will ultimately survive the ordeal.
Combat Area & Disposition
- Lawful forces gather at Planet Weimar
- Nomads and Wild gather at Valhalla Shipyard
Objectives
- The Kolleda must spend 10 minutes within 10K of Valhalla to fire the weapon safely
- The Kolleda may choose to fire a last-resort "snap-shot" at any time, but will be immediately destroyed
- If the Kolleda is still alive after firing, it must attempt to retreat to Planet Weimar or Frankfurt
- If the Kolleda is destroyed, any lawful forces may attempt to rescue its crew
Rules
- Unlimited respawns are enabled for the event (before the weapon is fired)
- Event starts when the Kolleda begins moving towards Valhalla
- After the weapon is fired, a deadly pulse centered on Gotha will expand to neighboring sectors every two minutes. Anyone caught within the pulse is put out of action
- Eight minutes after the weapon is fired, everyone still in Thuringia is out of action, and the event ends
- Can only shoot secondaries (lvl 8 battleship turret light slot) before the weapon is fired
- Cannot cruise before the weapon is fired
