Alright, this may seem like the dumbest question ever, but I really have to ask:

Are cruisers and larger only allowed to those who possess Guard IDs?

My AI character is in a cruiser. It has a Freelancer ID because I haven't had the time to change it lately, so let's start by stating I'm working on changing it and you will NOT mention it later.

While in Gamma, I was told that I must have a guard ID in order to use a cruiser. I thought that was ridiculous because all ideas, guard or otherwise, don't have the word "cruiser" written anywhere.

This leads me to another issue: Zoner rep. There are no Zoner missions, making it almost impossible to get the guard IFF. As far as I know, that is. If the guard ID is needed for a cruiser, how would I attain it? Do any of you know an easy way to get Zoner rep that doesn't involve me shooting a god-awful amount of Bounty Hunters? I mean....Zoners should be easier to get on the good side of...

Thanks.
You can use anything you want as a freelancer. The server rules stated that all capital ships are avalible freely to everyone, Altough some people may not agree with your ship choice and invoke some RP consuquences upon you, you can't actually get sanctioned.

That and you shouldn't make ship choices that clearly conflict with your ID (Rheinland cruisers as a liberty police and stuff), but that's just common sense.

Quote: Price: 80000 - Freelancer ID
Pilot carrying this ID is a Freelancer, who :
Can trade and escort traders,
Can hunt pirates, terrorists and lawfuls across Sirius,
Can fulfill lawful and unlawful bounty contracts,
Cannot pirate,
Cannot use any transports with more than 3,600 cargo.
Allowed ships: Fighters, Bombers, Freighters, Transports, Gunboats.
Carrying unmounted IDs in your ship, as well as not equipping an ID, is a serious crime.
Freelancer ID does not allow cruisers or anything above ... All capital ships bar gunboats need a Guard ID.

We already got that out of the way with the Freelancer ID.

I figured out how to fix this.

Please close this topic.

That is quite possibly the worst advice I've ever seen given to anyone on this forum.

Seriously - have you even READ any of the rules here?

I agree with the post above me, where does this rule exist? Please quote it for interest.
I agree. Freelancers using anything?

Thanks alot. Ill go buy a rheinland battleship and give it a freelancer ID.

To actually try an answer your question, get zoners to about -0.1 (one red bar) by shooting them and depots. Go to bethlahem station in Pennsylvania. relog until the bartender gives you a zoner bribe, decline it. Then switch back and forth between the bar and a dealer or the launch bay until there are multiple zoners offering bribes, they should all be zoner bribes and you should try for at least 3. THis may take a while. get all the bribes and you should be very close to zoner guard IFF.

I've only used this method to get a regular zoner tag but i think it works for guard as well.
alternativley, just dock at gran canaria, undock and shoot zoner npcs till you are fully hostile. Then commit suicide and get a double zoner bribe.

Should save about 500-600 thousand credits.
If you have money to waste, you can get guard ID by only shooting Zoners and then quad-bribing them. Yes, it takes a while; yes, it costs more money. A bonus, though, is that you can do this in Pennsylvania.

The important thing is that this doesn't mess your reputation up as much as shooting GMG to lower your Zoner (and not the guard) reputation. I'm also fairly sure that it takes astronomically less time then shooting GMG - which has to be the most mind-numbing and frankly stupid thing I've ever had to do in Disco.

Just be careful not to lower the Zoners too much, otherwise you won't be able to land at Bethlehem.

(The strategy here is that while your Guard and normal Zoner rep both lower when you attack, you're raising your normal to the limit with a huge amount of superfluous bribes that would take it far past that. Your Guard rep also jumps up. Then you attack the Zoners, lower it, and overcompensate again, raising your Guard ID past where it was.)

(As a side note, the efficacy of your bribes is directly correlated to the unpleasantness of your relations with the Zoners. If you're just under friendly with them, your bribes will just raise your reputation a tiny bit. If you're under the middle on the pink side, your bribes will cost more, but they will be vastly more effective, as they have to raise your rep to just friendly with the Zoners, which is about six bars' worth. That has a nice effect on your Guard standing.)

As another side note, the Guard ID is only available from Omicron-74.
Have fun with that. I did.

Also, you should know that capital ships is NOT where the fun's at.
Yes, they're big; yes, they're shiny; yes, they have very large and potentially dangerous weapons.

That's about it.
If you're looking for a capital ship because you think it will be fun, you should know that PvP with capital ships is exceedingly limited. With Zoners, it's even more limited.

RP is where the entertainment is at, and you only need a starflier to be able to RP, not a ship that's nigh-on two-hundred million credits.
