From where are you connecting to the server? If you are too far away from the server, your ping may be higher. Also, make sure you're not downloading anything while playing.

As in narrowband, which is usually a 56kb connection, possibly 128kb. As opposed to broadband.
What's your internet speed? If it's too slow, and there's a lot of people on the server, you'll inevitably be slow.
Its an 354.483 Kbps connection (>< i pay for 1000 kbps ><)
