so, when ppl using cap ship saying anti-bomber ability is too poor, and forums say the famous line

the only "real bomber" i've seen in game is the RH heavy bomber and Barghest (order bomber is close enough, yes, Order bomber it's a brick in space we almost use for target practice)

their advantage:
hard-core anti-cap: 1 CD 2 Torp slot, making a cap want to flee impossible while having 2 torp providing heavy fire power
powerful power core: keep the "fire" going on those dual-torp slot
heavy armour: can take some pounding from enemy fighter
Freighter shield: stronger than the fighter shield (capacities/recharge rate)
their Dis-advantages
big size
slower speed
bad turning
sacrifice for having 1 CD dual torp setup with powerful power core and heavy armour, and become easy target for fighters


now take a look at "light bomber" (aka. the regular bombers)

advantage:
fighter size while having dual torp/CD slot
less than powerful power core
medium turning

while having powerful anti-cap weapon, also have power to defend themself from fighter due to their size and medium aglity

dis-advantages
slower speed (like all other bombers)

heavyght bomber vs fighter
Fighter:
fast turning
medium hull
more regular guns
small size (depends on which fighter)
faster speed
cannot deal enough damage to capitals
fighter shield
weak power core
CM

Barghest
slow turning
heavy hull
4 regular guns
slower speed
Frighter shield
way bigger size
able to deal massive amount of damage to capitals
awsomly powerful power core
CM

Light bomber
slightly slower turning than fighters (depends on which)
heavy hull
4 regular guns
slower speed
fighter shield
fighter size (close enough)
power core (better than fighter)
CM

Barghest loss to fighter at
turning, speed,size (chance of getting hit)

light bomber loss to fighter at
little on turning, speed.


conclusion: get an escort is not so much of a solution to Battleship captains right now, due to the massive usage of Light Bombers, it takes fighter long long time to take them out with guns (due to the factor of shield running and strafing). the only weapon can actually hurt a bomber hard is using missiles, due to massive 1 hit damage (if it hits that is, because of CM, server lags, player lags).

So, either make all bomber like the size of Barghest/RH Heavy Bomber and with less aglity, or buff capital ship's survival rate from bombers (buff anti-bomber weaponry or whatever that works)



let's put battleship in the form of Light bomber

Osiris has 18 turrets with Liberty Dread hull stats, power core of a Rhienland BS, speed of Liberty Dread
it has 10 primary turret and 8 solaris
having good anti-cap abilities while having anti-fighter/bomber abilites. with its size, it's almost uber

just like the light bombers, having enough ability to avoid getting hardly rape by their supposly biggest enemy while having a privilige of anti-cap.


again, civilized discussion, no "ur a cap whore, u suppose to get rape by anything, even a starflea" or stuff like that
Well, you've stated it quite well. Two bombers can kill a battleship with two fighter escorts before the fighters can kill the bombers. The fighters should be at least to be able to distract the bombers or make it harder to fire a nova at the cap. Solaris STILL does crap damage against bombers, even though my big ol Capital Ship Point Defense topic got their ranges buffed, Youd have to have a ship with all solaris to do enough damage to a bomber, your better off with primaries.
I do think that bombers should be more like the torp bombers in Starlancer and less like the bombers here, since the bombers in Starlancer could kill a capship with extreme ease, but were completely helpless against fighters.
Meh, Most bombers are more Like Ywings from star wars.......... Capable for defending themselves against fighters, If Slow
Thats just the thing though, Bombers should need fighter escorts for protection against incoming fighters, currently, they dont need them.
I think it would be useful if we knew how long it takes for two light bombers to kill a, say, light battleship with marginal armor.

Just so we have an understanding.

Please provide us with the amount of time necessary for two civilian bombers to destroy a cap 4 Osiris.

In this scenario the Osiris is not dodging, nor returning fire. The two civilian bombers are firing at every opportunity provided by their plant.
Actually Mini Razors are a pain in the butt, not to mention codes.

EDIT: That means, that fighters can take down bombers reallly quick.
It takes a long time to kill a decent Battleship, even the Mako which is bigger and less agile than the Osiris, which you used in one of your comparisons.

The bomber powerplants were lowered. They cannot sustain indefinite fire, not even with three guns.

If a VHF or bomber is holding down the trigger long enough to empty their power, 'UR DOIN' EET WRONG!'.

Bombers also die to one SNAC and are significantly easier to hit with one. Mini Razors also make quick work of them, and are far easier to hit with than the SNAC. I guess if you can't take them out with the MR, you don't have the right to whine about the SNAC.

Is it possible maybe to get a rocking effect on some Bombers?

So if your taking a run at a capship, and getting shot at by its escorts, it'll be as if your a battleship with no shield and getting shot by Eco chain guns:D
