a friend of mine tried to host an freelancer server for fun and i connected to it, all worked fine, but as he tried to connect he got the message that he cant connect to the server....how can he not connect to his own server if i could do it?

For some reason, i can no longer connect two computers to the server from the same LAN...

Then look for a problem on his side, he should check his firewall settings - ports 2302-2304 should not be locked for example. Did he ever try to connect to different servers?
Yes, to this Discovery server here , and worked.
