Currently, pirates in fighters have no effective way of both defense and pirating at the same time.

If you use the CD/T hardpoint with a torpedo, you have no way to stop the transport from just cruising away from you with nothing but wasted time. If you use the CD/T with a Cruise Disruptor, it takes longer to kill the transport itself (Assuming they don't pay, which is usual), as well as having more trouble dealing with escorts that are in gunboats (You shouldn't be able to take down Cruisers and Battleships alone w/o a bomber anyways).

The idea I like the most is to just make all CD/T hardpoints torpedo hardpoints, and to add one CD hardpoint to each ship. "The Next Generation" mod implemented this, and it didn't really cause any problems, and I don't see why it should cause any in Discovery either.

Thoughts?

Edit: Whoops, added 2 of the same option on the poll.
I can see making CD/T Torps, but perhaps bombers should be left as is or you are going to make a very effective pirate tool. It isn't just pirates though that can benifet. Police/Navy would benifit as well.

Though, I would like it kept the way it is too. Forces you to use tactics and balance out forces.
I actuly think this would be a good idea, and not just for pirates.

I actuly voted for this but hit the wrong button.

((Make all CD/T hardpoints Ts, and make one CD hardpoint))
Single pirates dont, your right. But isnt the whole point for them to hunt in gangs?

I believe a bomber can mount CD`s too? My plan is to get a bomber and have a Nova and a CD. Heck if 2 Novas smash gunboats then 1 Nova should be enough for transports, especially when they cant run. 2 Coladas would help to:)
This has been discussed before. Ships having both a CD and a torpedo would just be extremely unbalanced. Need I remind everyone of the damned search button? Is it invisible or something, because I can see it..

Chill out, Dab. Whether or not he used the search, there's still a good chance nothing would be found. Posts like this one do not need to be so hostile.
Here's the way I see it: Make all CD/T hardpoints Ts, and make one CD hardpoint

1. Kinslayer is right.

2. Equipping the Pirates like this actually gives them a chance for when they come across something a litlle bigger than a shipment/convoy.

3. There's more than enough military/civilian/corporation bases around any populated systems and only a few Pirate bases around.

I'd support the side of the Military/Police but laws are no fun at all:)
I agree with Dab on this issue. Having a torp & a CD on the VHF's, let alone other ships, is extremely unbalanced.

Like Kinslayer said, having a torp to quickly take down a transport AND a CD to keep it from getting away would be the prime desire for pirates and police alike. But this would be a bad idea as it would greatly imbalance the game. One person shouldn't have the ability to prevent movement & destroy quickly.

my 2c
I think it sould be left as-is w/ the logic of: "You can't have your cake & eat it too"

Seems to me that the option of disrupting then torping could develop (for some) into an 'unfair habit' for lack of a better way to put it.

My bottom line is: what you decide to install in that slot affects your play-style on the server, & I personally like the limitation.
Leave the fighters the way they are adding a CD slot would cause major imbalance. It would be way overpowering. Having a nova and a CD would keep the transports from ever getting away. Or allow me to have a CD and a sunslayer.

Which needless to say would be unfair. Pirates should have to work together.....not alone. Although I work alone frequently...it doesn't matter.

CD/T slot remains as is thank you VERY much...
