Fleet Admiral Hale here.

Of late, the Liberty Navy has grown sick of the constant hassle being given to us in already difficult times by some of your pilots. We have been insulted, raged at, accused of corruption and been generally annoyed by a lot of Zoners, including the TAZ.

As a result I'm issuing, with the President's backing, an expulsion notice to the TAZ in responce to the most recent incident. Any TAZ vessel found in Liberty space will be escorted out of Liberty space. If they resist, the vessel will be destroyed or impounded. You have 24 hours to remove you ships from Liberty

This expulsion notice is to give us something of a breather from your constant annoying behaviour.

Until you learn to control your non-factionalised Juggernaughts and other warships from entering our space, we will be treating you with a certain degree of distain. Having a foriegn battleship attempt to declare a no-fire-zone above West Point Military Academy while we, the navy, are under attack from Outcasts, Rogue and Lane Hacker gunships is more than just annoying, especially when the Juggernaught then opens fire on one of my men for breaking said fictitious NFZ.

I have received reports of TAZ ships supplying pirate vessels with regens while in Liberty space, WHILE the navy is in combat with said pirates. This will not stand.

You may apply for re-entry into Liberty space in one week. This notice will be extended to certain independant Zoner vessels as well, as we compile a database of troublemakers and irritants.

Hale out.

********************* MESSAGE BEGINS ************************

Admiral Hale,

As Doc.Holiday and Malaclypse are presently indisposed and to curtail any risk of further 'insult', I shall respond to your communique' in his stead. Given that I have just now been notified of these issues, I would like to take a moment to both acknowledge your decision and further, thank you for your foresight and restraint. I do believe you have made the best possible choice, given the recent turn of events. Reports are still coming in on my end, so please understand that it is not the position of TAZ to behave in a reactionary nor irresponsible manner, when confronted with the abrasions of space faring. These little snags will oft times present not only a challenge to ourselves, but to all good people out there attempting to secure a living, as our forefathers had upon coming to Sirius.

For this reason, I would ask for your further indulgence in providing reports of said transgressions (i.e. "I have received reports of TAZ ships supplying pirate vessels with regens while in Liberty space, WHILE the navy is in combat with said pirates.")

It is not the intent of TAZ to inflame, what has clearly become a sore issue, only to secure further clarification so that we may take appropriate steps, to ensure a stable and relationship between Liberty and the TAZ. Certainly, you would agree that the importance of clarity in such matters cannot be undervalued.

Rest assured, Good Sir, your message and your terms have been taken to heart and I shall personally see that your concerns are addressed to both Doc.Holiday and Malaclypse.

Thank you again for your time and know that the TAZ will work diligently to redress any and all torts, following our investigation. With the help of the Goddess, we shall ford this stream, summit this peak and we shall all realize the blessings of our futures!

I remain,

Kyte

Greetings, Admiral,

*looks to Kyte*
Sorry to if this is bad form.

*looks back to the Admiral*

If you would, Sir, I would like a name of the offender(s) and camera shots if you have them. I too would like to clear this up as soon as possible as I enjoy my business in Liberty space, as do many of us.

*A tall, nicely slender, brunette woman appears on the screen, wearing the High Command officer's uniform of the Liberty Navy.
The rank insignia on her shoulders clearly identify her rank to be that of Admiral.
She's sitting on what appears to be the Captain's seat on a Battleship's bridge and a tall and muscular, well-built man with a long, red beard and wearing a similar uniform can be seen standing a step behind her.
She leans a little forward to the camera and begins to speak, with a devil's little smile on her lips.*

"Well, hello there, honorable ladies and gentlemen that are the Zoners, most notably you folks who call themselves the 'Temporary Autonomous Zoners'."

*She fishes a cigarette out of her pocket and the man behind her quickly whips out a lighter and lights it before she continues to speak.*

"In recent times, there's been some... let's say, unfortunate encounters, involving the Liberty Navy and the Temporary Autonomous Zoners.
Over time we've encountered said Zoners committing several, well, crimes of various sorts in Liberty.
Now I'm not going to bother listing them all, the specific persona who commited them know well enough who they are and what they did, aaand, well.
We, I, not even Mac here behind me, we don't run your bloody group.
Ain't OUR job to find YOUR problem childs for YOU.
You've had your 'position' for quite a while now, and just for the same while it's ALWAYS been something like little snags, and dear lord no, it has never ever been the Temporary Autonomous Zoners.
No, always some 'little snags' doing... wait...

What was it exactly?
Things ranging from... what was it again Mac?
Help me here for a second."

*As she turns her head to the side, the man behind her steps forward a bit and looks at the camera, looking strangely happy and smiling.*

"Well, Boss, 'ah think they 'ad been doin' things like, y'know, resupplyin' hostile forces in the field o' battle, smugglin' contraband through Libertay space, an' maney other various lil' things, like trespassin' into the good-ol' Zone twentay-'un.
An', y'know, 'tween us?"

"Yes, Mac, between us?"

"They're one 'ell of an annoyin' bunch, realley!"

*Both start laughing for a moment before she turns to face the camera again and continues, once more, this time with a stern gaze.*

"Well, gentlemen, put bluntly, you've been screwing up for a while now.
And we, that is the representatives of the law in Liberty, have always been very... lenient.
Isn't that so, Mac?"

"Aye, aye, Boss.
We've always been lettin' 'em go 'round all nicey-nice an' dandy."

"You heard him.
The problem is, that whenever one of your lot even does so much as to just be an annoying fly in our space, all those things, we get reminded of them.
Even worse, one of your lot does one of those things again, and we have to add it to a long and drawn-out list.
But you know what, I'm not going to help you out here.
Maybe Fleet Admiral Hale will.
Maybe Admiral MacTavish will.
Maybe Commodore Robinson or Vice Admiral Anderson will.

But I? I'll tell you something different here, it's a story about a man.
Let's call him Joe."

*Smirking for a moment, she leans back in her chair, smoking her cigarette still, and then continues.*

"On one day, there was that man, Joe.
He came home, and he was drunk.
He had the urge we all sometimes have, the one that leads with us in the nearest bathroom.
But Joe was drunk, and so he thought, if he pissed on the lawn, it would be okay.
Afterall, he thought it was his own lawn.
But unfortunately, it wasn't.
So out came his neighbor, let's call him Tim.
Tim saw Joe, came out of his house, and then got a little upset at Joe, because of him pissing on Tim's wonderful lawn.
So, kind man Tim is, he reminded Joe of it being his lawn and send Joe to his home next door.
Things were well and returned to normal soon after.
Right Mac?"

*The man shakes his head, barely able to hide that he's grinning.*

"Nay Boss, not realley."

*She giggles for a moment.*

"Oooh, right, 'course.
Well, Tim, he didn't forget that Joe pissed on his lawn.
And he was very, very upset when Joe did it a couple weeks after, again.
But that was still okay, since, he understood that Joe was drunk and didn't know better in that state.
So once again, things seemingly returned to normal."

"For a while."

"Hey, quiet there Mac, I'm the storyteller here!
Anyway... Joe managed to do it again.
Just that this time, well, Tim was really, reaaally pissed off about it.
So what did Tim do, Mac?"

"He went t'grab 'is boomstick, Boss."

"Yep Mac, exaaactly."

*Flashing a grin, she leans very close to the camera and speaks, very quietly.*

"I think you know what happened to Joe after.
So I suggest you keep thinking and figure out just what exactly to do, and what not to do, with a little help from me.
As Admiral Hale, who seemed rather, well, pissed-off himself, didn't send it your way and was being rather vague...
Well.
Attached to this video-feed you'll find the official Expulsion Notice regarding of the future do's and don'ts of you, the Temporary Autonomous Zoners, or TAZ for short, in Liberty.
This one is an addition to already existing agreements made, like the ones regarding Zoner Capital Ships entering Liberty space and whatnot and concerns the Temporary Autonomous Zoners only.
As for you other Zoner lot, let this be a clear warning.
Don't piss on our lawn.

We're doing you a favor here, and by now we don't even like you that much, so really, don't.
I'd suggest you find out who did what on your own, since, we, the High Command of the Liberty Navy, are quite a busy lot, and we've things to do that're more important than helping you discipline your own bloody group.
Like I said earlier, maybe someone else'll help.
But for now, I suggest you stay quiet, it was the chatter of one of your lot, some Tomoe Kashiwhatever, that made the entire paperwork mountain with your screw-ups topple over the fine line between the tolerable and intolerable.
So, there will be no talk until the period is over.
Do your own damn job instead of trying to shift the blame away from your collective lot as usual."

*She leans closer to the camera a final time and flashes yet another devilish grin.*

"Or, in other words.
Suck.
It.
Down."

*The screen fades to black, with the red-bearded man quietly laughing to himself in the background.*

End of video-feed.

To: Temporary Autonomous Zoners
From: Liberty Navy
Subject: Expulsion Notice

Point ONE:
As of now, 00.00 hours, Sirius Main Time, January the sixteenth, all vessels belonging to the Temporary Autonomous Zoners ( [TAZ] ), regardless of ship size, purpose, specific location, designation, cargo, occupation and operational status are to leave Liberty space within twenty-four hours.

Failure to comply will result in the vessels in question being given an additional six-hour period of time during which they may request to be escorted out of Liberty space by present Liberty Navy forces in the area.

Failure to do the above will result with the vessels being impounded and shut down.
Should resistance be encountered, the vessels in question will be destroyed.

Point TWO:
From January the seventeenth, 00.00 hours, Sirius Main Time, all vessels belonging to the Temporary Autonomous Zoners are forbidden to enter outer Liberty space.

If a Temporary Autonomous Zoner vessel enters Liberty space from one of the adjacent Borderworlds, said vessel will be warned and ordered to turn around and leave Liberty space once, and then escorted out by forces of the Liberty Navy.

If the vessel does not comply or proves to be hesitant, or in other words, wastes the Liberty Navy's time, a fine, set as high as the highest-ranking officer on the scene sees fit will have to be paid.
Failure to comply will result in the vessel's cargo being confiscated and the vessel being escorted out of Liberty space.
Failure to comply with the above will result in the vessel's immediate destruction.
Should the same vessel be encountered in outer Liberty space once more, a second warning will be given.
After the second warning, the vessel will be treated as hostile and destroyed on sight upon entry of Liberty space.

Point THREE:
From January the seventeenth, 00.00 hours, Sirius Main Time, all vessels belonging to the Temporary Autonomous Zoners are strictly forbidden to enter Liberty Core space aswell.

If a Temporary Autonomous Zoner vessel enters Liberty Core space, that is the systems California, Colorado, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas, all the vessel's cargo will be confiscated at once.
Additionally, a fine will always have to be paid, once again set as high as the highest-ranking officer on the scene sees fit.
The vessel in question will afterwards be escorted out of Liberty space.
Failure to comply to do so will result in the vessel's immediate destruction and the period of time until the Temporary Autonomous Zoners may apply for re-entry will be extended by three days.
Should the same vessel be encountered in Liberty Core space again, the vessel will be treated as hostile and destroyed on sight upon entry of Liberty space, outer and Core systems, and the period of time will be extended by an additional three days.
There will be no second warning in this scenario.

Point FOUR:
Provided the above conditions are met and the period of time is not extended, the Temporary Autonomous Zoners may apply for re-entry into Liberty space from January the twenty-fourth, 00.00 hours, Sirius Main Time.
The Temporary Autonomous Zoners are to contact the High Command of the Liberty Navy if they decide on this course of action once the period of time has passed.

Signed,
Fleet Admiral David Hale, Liberty Navy Primary Fleet, Secondary Headquarters, Fort Bragg, Planet Manhattan,
Admiral Sarah Willows, Liberty Navy Primary Fleet, Battleship Overlord, Planet Manhattan, lower orbit,

Greetings, Admiral,

I've been trying to be pleasant about things despite circumstances, requesting names and such. I can't monitor every TAZ acolyte on a 24/7 basis which is why I asked. My personal travels throughout Liberty have always been pleasant, my chats and conversations with many an LN officer pleasant as well. Doing a lot of business there, this hurts me personally.

So, I have done this. I have given 24 hours for the offender(s) to step foward, to face not only disciplinary actions from myself, but to be turned over for prosecution.
IF they don't, I will present myself for arrest to Liberty authorities to answer all charges. This happened under my watch, I approved many new members and therefore I hold myself accountable.
Yes, I do realize I could well be incarcerated for this. But, I don't want all of TAZ to be held accountable for the actions of a few.

I await your response, Admiral Willows,

I speak with mixed feelings. A Discordian excommunication ceremony is not a pleasant thing, but sometimes it is necessary.

The "offender" is no longer a member of the Temporary Autonomous Zoners. We trust this will be a sign of our good will.

All TAZ vessels will abide by the current Liberty edict. Admiral Willows, we do have our own intelligence resources, and they indicate that the Acolyte in question shared the responsibility for the recent unpleasantness. Ergo.. she is defrocked.

We will be in touch at the appropriate time.

*Willows appears on the screen, a rather neutral look on her face.*

"Good day to you, Episkopos Prime of the Temporary Autonomous Zoners, if I gathered that right.

I am sure that you have your own intelligence sources as you've stated, that goes without question, and I am sure that you have taken all the necessary actions in order for this, well, let's call it a 'stunt', to reach a good ending.
Hearing about a Discordian Excommunication Ceremony having been necessary due to the recent events doesn't make this all better, but I'm sure you simply did what you had to do.

Now, well, apologies if I seemed rude to Ambassador Holiday and Warden Kyte earlier, however, I believe that it will help if I clarify something."

*She lights a cigarette before continuing, a serious look on her face now.*

"Those 'unfortunate encounters' I mentioned earlier, they haven't been of the 'once-upon-a-time' variety.
So far we've had vessels flying under the TAZ' flag trepass into Zone Twenty-One,
We've had them resupply hostile forces during combat operations, among those the Terrorists known as 'Phantoms',
We've had them smuggle all kinds of contraband through Liberty, and while that wouldn't be the worst kind of thing on the list, were it just goods catered for personal use or being trafficked through, but not TO destinations in Liberty...
Well, unfortunately it has been the latter, on numerous occasions.
We also had, which was rather shocking when I recieved the reports from my men, vessels flying under the TAZ' flag open fire on our forces, albeit that has happened rarely and usually those were situations which were solved in a peaceful manner with mutual agreement from both parties.
Not to mention, there's been, well, rare occasions where such vessels have broadcasted...
I'd say, propaganda, throughout Liberty which, while just harmless talk in itself, didn't really let the brighest light shine on our own forces.
Needless to say that sometimes, captains or members of the crews of vessels flying under the TAZ' flag went so far as to personally insult the armed forces, and certain individual members of them."

*A short pause as she inhales.*

"We have, so far, been very lenient with the Temporary Autonomous Zoners as a whole, usually doing our best to solve problems and situations on the scene, as they arose, in mutual agreement.
However, these 'situations' have been occuring even back when no other than Admiral John Talon was the Commander-in-Chief of the Liberty Navy, and I myself was a Lieutenant.
And as I've said, we, that is the law enforcement around here, have always really been very lenient, not to say 'overly nice', since, Zeus forbid, we certainly don't wish for our relations to ever escalate in a more unpleasant way.

It is very unfortunate, for both sides, that things have reached this rather unpleasant climax, because, as 'annoying', as my Executive Officer, the one you heard earlier, and other members of our forces may claim the Temporary Autonomous Zoners to be, you have, so far, always been welcome guests in Liberty, and rest assured, we would like things to return to that status.
The simple fact is, that recently the amount of those 'situations' has risen and crossed that line I mentioned earlier, so we were and are forced to take drastic measures.
However, I am most confident that the expulsion period will pass quietly for both sides, without any incidents, and that we will, once the necessary amount of time has passed, come to an agreement which will allow us to open Liberty to the Temporary Autonomous Zoners again.

And once more, my apologies if I upset Ambassador Holiday or Warden Kyte, it wasn't my intention.
Certainly not, as I'm well aware of their respective positions, and their exceptionally good reputations in diplomatic circles.
Not to mention Ambassador Holiday's soothing voice, but that's another story.

*The screen begins to fade to black as she stands up, then the picture becomes clear again as she turns around to continue hastily for a quick moment.*

"Oh, and, I think it might be good to remind everyone that this 'Expulsion Notice' of course only concerns vessels of the Temporary Autonomous Zoners, as it is written, and not individuals of your 'organisation' living on Bethlehem Station.

And that is all.
We will keep this channel open for the further dialogue."

*Finally, the screen fades to black as she walks off.*

End of video-feed.

RE: Liberty Access

****************** MESSAGE FOLLOWS ************************
Admiral Hale,

I bring you greetings from the TAZ. With this week behind us, I believe you instructed us to contact you to secure permission to access Liberty space, provided there were no further incidents.

To date, I have no reports to indicate further issue with the Liberty Navy. I can share with you, Sir, that this pleases me to no end. I do apologize for the insults of the past and can assure you that your words did not fall upon deaf ears. Internal actions were taken to address the issues that you were kind enough to inform us of. Further, we have resolved ourselves to avoid such issues in future.

With this said, I would humbly request that you allow the TAZ permission to once again enter Liberty space to service our Freeports and conduct daily business.

Thank you once again for your time and your consideration. We find oft times that a cooler head will prevail and your decision clearly afforded the opportunity to reflect and I believe that was exactly what was needed.

With all humility,

Kyte
