Hi everyone!

Ive discovered Disco (gotta like the name) some weeks ago and absolutely loved it! I already got 30h of flight ingame and really start to enjoy the rping and the community.

For sure, my mind is still full of questions about this mod.
#1 any Flight school? Fighting style depending on which ship? For now, my heron is much more for trading but someday, i will want something more and starting a new character.

#2 A good nationality for my 1st character, not too difficult, not too crowded (ie: I dont wan't liberty, i find it overcrowded with a lots of "lolwut") - Being a frenchie, I could be a candidate for Gallic?

#3 is there any big battle? not only 1v1?

#4 Teamspeak, ventrilo or only Skype?

Join the Colonial Remnant if you like battles. There is an almost daily ~5v5 battle against Outcasts in Tau 23. Plus, we have Nyxes, which are smexy.

1. If you want to get beat up something fierce, just ask some of the deadlier pilots on the server. I.e. Zapp, Razr, Ench, Tycho. A VHF fights differently from a bomber, for example, which fights different from a gunboat, from a cruiser, from a battleship, et cetera ad infinitum ad nasueum.

2. Anything other than Liberty, really, would work.

3. Hooboy, you'll have to peruse some of the video threads in Media Center. We've had 20v20 fights before, but those usually crash the server.

4. Mostly Skype, though some use TS and Vent.

Hello and Welcome.

I would guess you already have a good grip on the rules, but if you dont be sure to read them, and reading sanction reports helps to. If you want to get to know a good group of players and have another place to get help you are always welcome to join the help channel on skype (pinned topic).

As for your questions:
1: Factions will usually help you find fights and sometimes provide practice. You might also want to look at the Flight Tactics page on the wiki for a lot of good theory and ideas.

2: Gallic is pretty tough, its hard to rep, a lttle on the empty side and the NPC's are the strongest in the game. I would try one of the other houses than liberty. If you want to make people happy try lawful kusari, they need more.

3: In addition to any random combat you might stumble across there are also scheduled battle events. See the events and competitions section here.

4.Skype is the big one, but as boss said there is some use of the others.

#4 Skype is pretty much the be-all/end-all. Everything else is just tacked on.

Its not a flight school like for fighters and stuff but if you have an escort char or are planning to do one you can check this

I'm trying to understand the concept of cutting engine I seem to miss something here. Does this work with turret view? or you have to be in mouse flight? does this work with every ships? only Fighters and bombers?

There definetly something wrong with my "attempts".

Start using VHFs (Very Heavy Fighters) First, They have the most standard Fighting Style, You just have to joust your opponent (With Using Engine Kill to turn, default key is Z - Which means you should Thrust Forward in Mouse Flight, then stop thrusting, Press Z once and then Turn around without pressing any key) and shoot him while Strafing (But you have to go to options first and set W and S to Strafe Up and Down), But, For more tips, You can check This Wiki Page.

I suggest making a Freelancer char, which basically can go anywhere! But If you are interested in a Faction, You can start with Police/Military Factions, they have easily understandable Roleplay and Huge Fights Once in a while. - Gallia is a good choice for you, because You'll be familiar with expressions and things, but, No Matter which faction you want to join, be sure to read the Faction information on Wiki First, before joining them.

When you group up with 3 - 4 players In game, who are in same faction as you, You might run into some other players in an opposite faction that have done the same, Then It simply turns to a 5v5 Fight, But there are also some 'Pre-Planned' Events, that you can see Here

Well, Skype is the main 'Communication Line' for Discovery Members, but we also use Xfire and TeamSpeak
If you want to join the TeamSpeak, use this IP and Pass;
And you can Register your own Username/Password first time you connect to TS, but Its kinda deserted! I've only seen a few guys on TS, but still, better than nothing;)

It might not be mapped yet. If you're in Go To, it won't work, but otherwise it should set your ship drifing in the direction you were traveling. Increase impulse power or press EK again to resume normal flight.

Most of the Factions can help you with this, as they are interested in skilled pilots.

Gallia isnt a bad choice, but the NPCs up there are not too beginner-friendly. But its good to see that you dont like Liberty that much :yahoo: I would suggest you to try Kusari, the RP up there got its own special touch, different unlawful groups and interesting lawfuls too.

Yes, there is much action, for example in the taus.

Skype should be enough, but Ventrilo is a nice thing too
