Ok this is a thing that happens alot and is unfair and quite OORP. When a GB Or Trader ship is starting to blow up with flashy fire and etc
You can still dock? Wouldent that blast the Repair teams? And is Quite unfair alot. Trader is starting to blow up. Full o Codes + cargos. And docks while is exploding .. " HAHA YOU WERE TOO SLOW".
Can something like dis-allow docking whEn blowing up? ( Caps + trader ships)
Its really lame. Long Thruster pew pew chase. Then they dock as they are blowing up
Apart from scrapping the pretty explosion effects, I dun think so.
Hmmm. While exploding capital ships are pretty, this is definitely a problem.

A problem I'm not sure how to solve.

Only solution I can think of is to attack them with more ships or further away from a base. Other then that, I don't know.
Dock killing is forbidden. Its in server rules. Its also exploited quite a bit.

Its annoying, I agree with you, the only real thing thats probable, is to possibly, put a timer on docking like with the Redocking, when in combat.

From a strictly humane standpoint, if its a trader, or allied capital ship, regardless of the consequences, the stations would be compelled to provide assitance, possibly sending fighters out to escort it in.
Lets take a example..
Pirates are at a tradelane a trader comes and aint wanna give The money/loot. He thruster runs back to the nearest base which is 20K Away or 30K.
And has armor
After a long chase As he reaches there . By the base.He starts to explode And cannot Harm. Speed docks JUST Before he died.
Wouldent that mean inRP inside the Base went boom ? >_> Alot of people died?
Thats abit stupid. And whenever they undock they blow up. Or they repair and continued trade but died respawned And blows up?
as I said, its a commonly used exploit. But if the pirates continued to shoot him, as he is docking, its dock killing which is forbidden. Second, the pirates would have been vaped by station/planet defences, and the station would most likely have sent backup.

Again, we all agree its annoying, but from this standpoint, the pirates are in the wrong for dock killing
Honestly, it takes all of 5-10 seconds max for a ship to blow up, you'd have to quick dock to avoid it, and just how often does a fight take place right on top of a potential docking location? I cant remember the last battle I was in where I was even close to a base.

I dont really think this is a big issue.

Shooting someone as they are trying to dock is not dock killing, because once you go into the 'cinematic' while docking, your ship becomes immune to damage.

Dock Killing only applies when someone just appears after undocking from a base, or coming through a jumphole - there is a short time period where the ship is vulnerable but the player is not in control, plus, there's no real way you can give a proper engagement notice on an undocking person without resorting to set messages.
he wasent docking. he was flying to th speed dock point and starts to explode before he reaches there. thenm the amount of time of the exploding was long ish gave em enuf time to dock(speed dock not normal.2nd i am e8ing cake)
heard of alpha/gamma tena???

not a unknow issue in those places..

Dock-killing is defined as attacking someone while they are UNDOCKING, not while they are docking. Please read the rules before spouting inaccuracies.

Da Rules Wrote:5.5 Dock-killing when player is undocking/launching from a planet/base is not allowed.
