I just formatted my entire harddrive and installed Windows 7 64 bit.

And now, when I try to install Freelancer I get this error:

"Freelancer setup encountered a disk error while writing to the file
C:\Program files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\rdslenu.msi.
Make sure that your hard disk is not full, and that the file is not in use"

And my hard disk is definitely not full.
I tried running the setup.exe from the disk in Windwos XP combability mode but that didn't work.
I also tried changing the installation directory but still got the same error.

Any ideas?
You can't install to a folder with any non-XP characters in it. In this case, ( or ). Install to My Documents\Freelancer and you should be fine.
I said I tried to install in another direcotry too. Probably should have been a tad more specific.

I tried to install in: C:\Program Files\Freelancer and still got the same error.
Running installation as an administrator?
Program Files I believe is reserved for x64 apps.

Try something in My Documents. Run it as an admin, too.
Fixed the problem myself.
Went into msconfig and unchecked all startup programs. Restarted and installed, then checked them again and now I'm rollin' baby!
