Hello all:

I'm looking for suggestions on what loadout you would recommend for an IMG "Hydra" class Gunboat.

The roles of this ship will be as follows:
Primary: Freighter escort / anti-pirate
Threats include:
-Solo VHF, solo Bomber, or solo PTrans.
-Small groups of Bombers, VHFs, possible PTrans backup

Secondary: Base/Operation Defense
Threats inclide:
-Small groups of Bombers and VHFs.
-Occasionally another Gunboat

Available weapons:
-Standard Gunboat turrets and missile
-IMG Gunboat turrets

My loadout is currently full IMG gunboat turrets, which i have found to work quite well. if you have decent aim, getting ether three pulses and three razors, or three razors and three IMG turrets would work quite well.
Go for the classic twin loadout, two pulse, two razor, two missiles. Kthnxbai you'll kill everything
Gunboat missiles are absolutely disgusting in a good way, make sure to include them in any anti-small loadout.
How about we don't add another missile spammer to the ranks? there are already way too many of em out there and they are cheap as hell.. Just stick with one missile.
If you have missiles, razors, and pulses - what is the correct sequence to use them say, against a bomber?

It seems three different weapons here are redundant, wouldn't you just pulse the target and then razor them? Are the missiles just "filler" if you have terrible aim? Or are the missiles playing a role alongside the pulses and the razors?
All three weapons systems use TONS of energy, so it's not like I cam spam missiles while also using pulses/razors, or vice-versa.

I guess if you're pretty good with your aim, wouldn't 3x razor and 3x pulse be better than 2x pulse, 2x razor, 2x missile?

Granted i'm relatively new to being on this side of a gunboat, so enlighten me as to what i'm missing here in terms of weapons order and energy management.
Seems we have nearly the same point of view about Gunboat Weaps, so let me put it this way:
If you have a good aim, Get Pulse and Razor Loadout and enjoy blasting every single moving target out of space!
If you have a bad aim, Get Pulse and Razor Loadout and Learn. How. to. Use. It!
Sure, you can get all IMG Turrets and chainfire everything you see ... But, what is cool about it?

You can Double Pulse the Bomber's Shield, and then Triple Razor the Hull ... Blue Message!
Gunboat missiles are for easily killing bad pilots and for making good pilots sweat a bunch knowing that if they stop dodging, they're going to get missile all up in their face. Followed shortly by razor.

They're also great for killing NPCs. Though two missiles may be excessive, one is usually enough.

so... 1 Missile 2 Pulse 3 Razor? Sounds like a winner!
Thanks for all the input my friends, I believe i'll work on my aim and run with the 3x razor, 2x pulse, and 1x missile setup in lieu of multiple missile hardpoints.
1 pulse > 1 vhf shield
2 razors > 1 vhf shield

3 razors > instakills anything with less then 18500 base armour

Tip with razors:
Dont fire all at once.... in case of lagg only 1 or 2 out of the 3 will "count"... making the last one just lost energy.. fire in rapid chain 1.2.3

make sure your gonna hit

have a separate group for razors and pulse (same speed/range) then other guns. keep pulse inactive and use a hotkey.... that way, right clicking is razors, and eg. scroll wheel is pulse.

Missiles stay in their own group.
