Hello, Discovery!

I recently found Freelancer and quickly explored the mods available. I've been playing in Liberty space for about a week and have accumulated a few million credits through mining, trading, escorts, and other freelancer activity.

I've explored the forums a little and have made sure to read the server rules and info on RP. I found the one sticky in this forum, Welcome Aboard Package, to be very helpful. I followed its advice and ran the cmd /restart Liberty.

I'm interested in joining a faction such as LPI, LSF, or LN but I can't make up my mind between them. Can anybody point out some attributes of each faction that aren't listed on the wiki? I'm not sure which group is the fit for me... I'm hoping to fly sorties with wingmates; whether it be patrols, detective work, assaults or defence, escorts, etc.

I'm working on writing my character bio. I saw a post somewhere that had a list of about 10 questions to answer about my char and the answers would basically make up a profile... but I can't seem to find it again. Can anybody point me in the right direction, or suggest some main points to include in a character bio?

Hi there, welcome to Discovery, id recommend you explore Sirius first before choosing which faction you would join, i know if you explore first there will be a lot of choices but like this you would truly know which is for you.

You can get Liberty Navy "Guardian" with Liberty Navy ID and fly in Liberty systems and Alaska.

Then you will see =LSF=, [LN] members, their RP and you will see which RP is better for you.

Dark_Predator: Are you suggesting that I join LN in order to find out which of LPI, LSF, and LN I should join?

Chet: I understand what you mean by exploring Sirius first before aligning myself with a faction, but I really enjoy the teamwork part of playing Freelancer. I want to be able to regularly fly escorts, be a wingman or need a wingman on missions or patrols, etc. etc.

Does anyone know some active factions which I could join for team work but not be pigeon-holed into a single profession/career?

There are a few player groups out there which cover a lot of things. Take the SMP for example. Societe Militaire Privee is a merc squad but we have a commercial syndicate too.

Jolly good you mentioned that, since it presents the opportunity to link my favorite RP brainstormer. It's a bit more than 10 questions thou, I'm not sure if that was the one you saw.

Thanks for the link! That wasn't the exact one I had previously seen but it is similar and will help me with my char's background story creation.
