Well, I've wondered. Maybe shooting rocks is more 'fun' than flying from A to B to C to D hitting f3 over and over.

So I want to ask you, discovery. Does mining alone, which entails slight bits more "fun' than trading alone, create more of a profit? I mean, Trading has always been a solo way to make money, but trading has gotten incredibly boring for me (and a number of other people, I bet...)

So Im polling you on this one, after Mining was nerfed, do you still think what you voted? Also, if you voted SUBJECTIVE, please explain.
I used to, but then they halved the mining profits.

Now you have to do it as a group, teamwork is the key.

Alone, you are simply very ineffective. Then again, you were never meant to mine alone, they want people to mine in groups or mine and offload onto a friend in a hauler.
Mining is just as subjective as trading in term of profits, but most mining routes are more profitable, in my opinion, than the best trading routes with the right setup, but only marginally since the ore price correction.

Pirates tend to be attracted to systems with large numbers of ships sitting in them, making mining alone more dangerous than trading. When a pirate comes across your mining ship sitting in the middle of an asteroid field without an escort, the asreroids make it pretty hard to get away without an escort.
That's what I figured - You either had to have a friend to help you haul or either mine Scrap metal, which was also nerfed I believe...

Hmm...
Voted Subjective.

It allways depends on which Trade Routes you compare to which mining.

Also you were talking of mining alone - i'm not quite sure if that meant either

Mining alone = not delivering the Ores, just mining = Selling the Ores to Traders
or
Mining alone = mining without a Team, transporting the Ores yourselfes.

General i would say most of the times you can mine faster than a Transport can haul it to its destination, so mining, having several Transports hauling for you would be most profitable.
Niobium for example - i think if you're mining in a Team of 2 miners, you can fill 3 Haulers in the time they take to NB and back (if they're going through Alpha or the GC Territory), but i might be mistaken, didn't mine that since some time.

Scrap for example - since the other Goods have been nerved it actually became profitable.
It has rather high Droprates (3 to 55 if i recall it correctly...), therefore you can fill several Transports in the time they need to haul it.

If you share the work mining is more profitable, also for the Haulers, since you fill several ones at a time they don't need to share 50/50, and all money they make on their way back is theirs too.

If you don't share the work, then it's not very profidable, since you would probably only have 2750 Cargohold (or less with Amor upgrades, which i would recommend), have to mine it and then still have to pay tribute to the pirates first at mining and second while trading.

Hauling and mining Scrap alone for example is less profitable than Trading alone in my Opinion, whilst sharing the Scrapwork is more fun and more profitable (in my Opinion, like everything i write here).

Other thing you could try, if you don't like trading is smuggling, or trading in an unlawful Faction.
It's quite interesting if you have to take care not getting busted or if you are moving through enemy Territory.

Mining alone is something that could be awesome if you knew your tricks.

For example, mining alone with your offline 5k ship(s) parked next to the miner is a good thing. Mining the hell out of everything and then hauling that gold ore 15k from the mining field to drop it to your logged off transport works.

Once you fill all your 3 trains with 5k gold ore you can hire an scout during morning hours and make your way down to Rheinland. Before you could make 70mil per ship, what would basically boil down to 210mil per 3 ships, or paying off 1 5k ship with 3 hours of mining.
I mine on my own most the time, since when I have time for mining there is no one around. It usually takes me 1 hour to fill up 5k train and haul it to destination. So before nerfing it was good profit per hour. It's not so profitable now, so I mine much less. For 5k of silver ore you get 47 milions so it's not that bad though.
I usually do it as Ivan said, or I ask in Kruger| chat someone to help with transfer.
Mining in groups is fun. It's easier and not that boring.

And you can shoot PTranses with X Hegemons. D:<
I mine bounties D: It's 9999 times more fun then mining, and you can do it alone.
I say get a Ptrans. Strip one of your BSes from the cau8, and put that on it. You might not make as much cash as miners but if you are an <adjective> you even will. But more importantly you might even enjoy it.
