ok anyways...im summing it up unofficially this time and i need opinions


this is my prototype idea:

Nuclear Laser(someone find a better name for me please)

100 hull dmg per hit
50 sheild dmg per hit
range 1000 m
speed 1000 m/s
energy cost per shot 500
refire rate 25.00

ok....this is my whole idea...this laser would have such ultimately massive power requirements that only bulky enourmous fighter craft like Mjolnir SHF,or spatial,or mafic or other shf could mount it (no nuke laser for bombers)

the power requirement would be so high that you could only power one of these nuke lasers for maybe 2 or 3 seconds max

so that way the weapon would be a more effective joust vs agile fighter weapon than say the razor

the weapon would have very very little rotational ability so that it would only be able to "wiggle" for aiming...

this would solve the problem of light fighters and heavy fighters being able to joust the shf and survive simply due to the enourmousness of the shf and its cannon spacing\


since the common lore is with the more agile craft to dodge around heavier craft...not to joust otherwise the smaller one will be blown up


this would help enforce that common sense wisdom

(i dont think 19 refire would cause lag considering we have bluebell and eco with 16.67 refire)

whenever i get into a furball, i get MASSIVE visual lag (old laptop). something with a range of 1k range in that, it'd make it like a power point display.

'here is the target approaching'
'here is the blue message of your death'

how would it be balanced between houses: i.e less range, less power, more range, more power for different factions' guns.

is this a civilian weapon, not able to buy if your id is anything other than civy?

it would be cool if it was a codename gun so that way everyone would fight over it like i originally intended

(and as for the one k range ive managed to torch bloodhound npc fighter with a full 10 mining lasers and a hegemon.....its the same principle)


just think of an upgraded and darker green eco chain gun
I'd love to have a beam weapon. It'd actually make escorts effective against bombers . . . they'd also rape, everything out there with it.

Balance, oh and server lagggg
anything about a refire rate of 14 or 16 causes some bad lag on older set ups....really I don't think a refire above 10 would work

so maybe a refire of ten but with a really long projective, like how the original liberty siege cannon worked, it fired much faster, but the projectile was so long that it looked like a solid beam
the chain guns got nerfed cos their refire rate (effectively making them a beam weapon) was too high.
a laser that travels 1k uses up 4 times the system resources of the laser that travels 500.

/summon A&L Guy, how quickly can the server catch fire if 200 people have beam weapons?
We've had beam weapon discussions. I don't think this is a good idea(Though I always wondered why there were no more 16.67 refire guns).
it says on the info card that the eco and bluebell chain guns are 16.67 refire


and ive tested this out...quite a bit...for me anyways they fire about twice as fast as vengence mk v
