Please no flaming its just a idea

I know how discovery is very Sensitive about cloaks i was thinking of a alternitive.

now since i was reading alot of posts about stealth cloaks is is a big No No but .. what about radar kill, like a radar blinder? i got the idea from Mech warrior 4(even tho its mechs), a mech can turn its radar off for about 250metres(called Passive sensors), then if the player or enemy got in range of 250m, they can see you on radar .. but on a bigger scale in freelancer. like a equipment addon similar to armor upgrade. while the radar inivisblity is enabled your ship is stationary.

for example: Capital ships and light fighters/scouts

got two ideas

kinda like kill engine but you can see the enemy but they cant see you unless they come into a certain range ..

or

Distrupts all radars with in a range limit.

or

Both cant see each other on radar, but can physicaly see each other in space ..

so thats my Radar idea.
now a ship question ..


If you played 4.84 you would of noticed the Viper MKII, now it is replaced with a similar ship called the Nyx(which is a look-a-like of the viper MKII). now i know how Discovery hates import right? but what about a look-a-like ship?(i will tell you of the ship imports later on after a few posters.) Not the exact ship but something that if you knew of the orignal you could see "Yeah that looks like the So-and-So".

It would work, even if inRp it would be more effective as an Order piece of equipment for the beginning, but make it at a reduced lifetime, since the power required do hide it's energy signature from other ships would be/should be bigger.

So, maybe it should be effective for... say 5-10 seconds, or something around that.

The idea has potential, but it should be tweaked some more.

It could be appart of scout equipment or something and use up your energy bar(yellow bar) .. diffrent versions for caps and Light fighters, just a broad idea that needs narrowing down by commenters.

BTW the ships i mentioned before were the Wraith from starcraft and terran battlecruiser. Why them? because i think that the wraith has a unquie look to it and so does the BC because of the hammerhead look and its foward gun idea but like i said before, Look-a-likes of these ships becuase of import limitations.
I think we should consider something like that... either an energy signature shield or a scanner jammer.

Just think of the possibilities for smugglers *-*
I've been dying for a way to legitimately hide, for lots of characters; both smuggler, pirate, military, police, and others. Since I can't hide in the shadow of anything, even if it's giving off crazy life and power readings; some kind of counter to Freelancer uber sensors would be nice.
The third one would be best, though this would be useless on capital ships, especially Battleships, since you can see the physical ship in space from 20K away.

It should NOT in ANY WAY make it physically impossible to see, then it would be a cloak. Just keeping it from showing on the radar.
Nice idea, but I think that, as the cruise engines, that should drain all the energy, and make it come back about 1-2 minutes after disabling it.

The cruise engine drain idea is good, but taking minutes or one minute would be too long, 20-30seconds, or otherwise it would be abused, knowing that the guy you stopped cant fight back for a minute and then you just say a RP engage and he cant get out of the fight or fight back ..

-20-30 seconds, probley a scanner that can detect this radar jam ..

-drains energy depending on the crafts ships energy, like fighters energy doesnt last as long as capital ships do(but they are alot easier to see thats why)
-No cloak, just radar jamming or similar approch.
This got my mind rolling with a whole BUNCH of ideas.

1) Stealth ships, specialised ones- Such as the Bayonet, maybe- Sleek profile, and technology to keep it from being seen until its close.
2) Radars given a model outside the ship, just as thrusters and shields and such do, and allowing it to be blown off by enemy craft
3) Radar jamming equipment and/or Incredibly-long-range scanners that take up massive amounts of cargo, maybe to serve as a control station from long-distance?
4) Somehow lowering the radar visibility for PLAYERS in asteroid fields and nebulas? They can still be seen from 15k, cloud or not.


As for your stealth idea, it sounds good. Been brought up elsewhere as well, I believe, cutting engines, dropping shields and weapon power, and stopping the ship at 0 impulse.
