Introduction

Omicron Supply Industries is a Zoner trade group whose main business is running supplies, equipment, and other goods to the Zoner stations in the border and edge worlds. Employing a transport fleet of respectable size for a non house corporation along side of a tough security element, OSI has been very successful in its goal to make life in the border and edge worlds more hospitable.

Currently based on Nichols Trade Centre in the Omega-49 star system; the Group has extended its reach into the production of Zoner technology and open market technology via space bound facilities on the Nichols Trade Center which sits in Gran Canaria's orbit it serves as a trade hub for the entire Omega-49 star system.

Members of OSI fill the roles of transport captains and security pilots. On top of those roles, faction leadership fill the roles of the Groups leadership.

Role Play Goals

Diplomatic Relations

This is meant to be a guide, it is far from complete and if there is anything you feel needs to be added feel free to PM a member of the faction's leadership.

Outcasts

Our relations with the Outcasts are tense at best. In the past we've had an agreement with their governing body that allowed us safe passage through Omicron Alpha and Omicron Beta. However, we've neglacted that agreement for a very long time and it is doubtful it remains intact. Be cautious when in their space and in their presence.

The Order

In the past, they've taken to protecting us in the Omicrons when those pesky squids attacked. In return, we supplied them with what they needed. Lately, though, their hostility against TAZ led to the relation between The Order and all zoners to derail. We have no bussiness anymore. But we still treat them as a neutral party, even if we cannot dock at each other's bases. When in their 'territory' you do as they ask of you. Do not enter their secured areas.

Corsairs

Relations with the Corsairs have been tense ever since our kin living in the Omicrons felt the need to step off the razor's edge and into pits of crazy. Our steadfast good will shipments of food have resulted in one of the larger Corsair groups having us supply the stations they run. Gamma is their home, you are to be excidenly polite and complient with their orders when you are visiting the system. Their secured areas are off limits.

Mollys

OSI has a secret agreement with the Mollys. Remember: it's a secret. Keep it that way! Don't be seen docking on their bases. We sometimes supply Goldern Coin station in Dublin, and get some Gold Ore in return for it. Remember: don't be seen docking, and if the bretonians ask say you bought the gold ore from the IMG.

Gas Miners Guild

They've build a mini empire for themselves in the upper Sigmas and eagerly send out exploration teams. Our alliance with the Gas Miners is one based on business. We have deuterium and they need deuterium; they have h-fuel and we need h-fuel. This alliance has resulted in limited numbers of their high tech strike craft being granted to us, along with their weaponry.

Golden Chrysanthemums

For reasons unknown to us, a sub sect of this movement in Kusari had us supply one of their bases, a battleship, for a short period of time. Relations since then have been rather quite and you are advised to be cautious around them. In the past they've been known to demand a donation to their cause.

Samura Industries

Citing that the Miners Guild has made it more cost effective to have us supply their base on planet Kurile, Samura agreed to pay us a nice sum of credits and license for two of their own transports in exchange for supplying Kurile. We hoped that by fufilling this contract we could garner some favor with the Kusari regime in power at the time and perhaps use that to our and the GMG's benefit. It was a fine line we walked, best not to mention this to anyone. Of course, when gallia happened all this changed.

Kishiro Technologies

We've begun working with Kishiro as they've established a base in the Sigma-19 star system. In return for bringing them needed materials for their new station, they sold us helium-3 at a large discount. We have no active dealings now.

Temporary Autonomous Zoners

A rather eccentric group of our kin. The system of Baffin is their home and they abhor any form of violence within the system. In the recent past they've failed to obtain trading rights within Gallia. We've suceeded where they failed, there seems to be some animosity regarding this. They produce pineal amulets, a good in high demand throught Sirius and Gallia. Help yourself by helping them; buy their amulets and resale them in the Omicrons and in Gallia. Just don't mention you're selling them in Gallia.

Independent Miners Guild

Another Guild of miners; difference being these miners shoot rocks with lasers. We supply a handful of their bases in the Tau region in exchange a nice sum of credits and a generous subsidy on purchasing raw minerals from them. They are as spread across Sirius as our community is and probably best understand the complexity of our life more than most. They are to be considered extended family, treat them as such. We have docking rights to both of their modular bases, Falster in Omega-3 and Fort Siloso in Tau-39. Good opportunity for profits hauling ore.

Colonial Republic

A group of what appears to be ex-miners or something who've taken over a system in the Tau region and are calling themselves a nation of sorts. They are extremely zelous in their interdiction and the destruction of cardamine; something we can't see any issue with. They have close ties to the IMG, typically acting as their defenders. They've moved their entire civilian populace from their homes in the Taus to planet Pecos in the Coronado system. We aren't sure why; but we've noticed they attack Gallic ships with the same zeal they attack Outcast ships with. Don't mention our Gallic contacts in their presence. Otherwise treat them as you'd treat the IMG.

Gallic Brigands

A group similar in nature to the Liberty Rogues. One of their many gangs, they fancy themselves the Legion of the Damned, have this idea that threatening us will make us do their bidding. So long as they don't bother you, ignore them. If they bother you, show them the painful end of a Fury 5. Oh, be sure you file a report if you have a hostile encounter with them; unlikely as it may be given they don't tend to venture outside their bases much.

Gallic Royal Navy

The Gallic King's enforcers. We think they'd rather enjoy shooting us; try not to give them any reason to do so. If they inquire about our dealings with the Crown on open comms, act like you have no idea what they are talking about. Contact them via private comms and talk to them regarding the matter. Best to keep them at arms length if possible.

Gallic Royal Police

Supposedly the gentlemen (and ladies) responsible for keeping piracy in Gallia in check. We've found they tend to practice piracy as a means to learn how to prevent it; namely by taking our stuff or our credits. They don't typically do this after we spoke to our contact within the Royal family, but they seem rather crafty and cunning. Be wary around them.

The Council

Seemingly the counter part to the Royal Navy in that they are a rather powerful military themselves and don't seem to agree with the Crown on Gallia's future. They made great effort to open the path to Sirius, seemingly to warn us of the GRN's intent to make war upon us. From what we have gathered, the GRN are more concerned with the houses and we are content to let them fight each other. The Council represent a potiental business client and should be treated very politely. Just don't mention we have any dealings with the Gallic Crown to them. We'd bet they are just as good with plasma as their archnemisis are.

Rheinland Military, Police and Corporations

Well, it's a long story. In short, we are banned from Rheinland. Never enter Rheinland territory - this includes Omega 7 and 11. If you encounter any rheinland corporation outside of their territory, treat them as any other neutral faction, but be alert because some of them can be agressive. If so, try to evade. If you are caught inside of Rheinland by the police or the military, do exactly as they tell you to - drop cargo, leave area, pay fine, whatever... Ah, and be prepared to get in biiiig trouble with the boss!

Unmentioned Organizations

In general you are to treat everyone you encounter politely and with respect. Most of Sirius uses our Freeports in some manner and thus they are our clientel. Being polite also helps prevent plasma bursts from venting your vessel's atmosphere into space. Report hostile encounters, include details!

History

Samuel Nichols was born on Freeport 2. His father and mother were part of the Zoner movement that left house space over 60 years ago. To make money for his family, his father Jacob ran supplies to other Freeports and did the odd escorting job. After Freeport 9 was built Jacob moved his family there to assist in making sure the folks out there survived.

Samuel was brought up in and around transports and fighters. His father would take him along on the safer shorter runs to teach him the family business. Samuel watched as his father would broker business deals on stations to get the best price for his cargo, and negotiate with the pirates that tried to take them. He learned quickly that a few well placed words can be the equal of a few well placed blaster shots. Once he turned eighteen, Samuel was given charge of his fathers old armored transport. He and his father worked the supply lanes together for several years before his father retired.

After half a decade of making independent runs to and from Freeport 9 and 11. He saw how the unorganized supply lines to and from these deep stations was causing trouble. Certain high dollar items were brought in till the price plummeted and much needed items that were not a large profit went sorely lacking. It was at this time he first came up with the idea for OSI. He started talking to the other traders, organizing convoys and hiring escorts on a percentage of the profits instead of flat fees. By examining which supplies were most needed and balancing it with the higher profit runs, he make a rotating schedule for some of the local traders that not only kept the Freeports in what they needed but made a tidy profit for all.

Samuel also did a study on which ships fared the best in this arduous environment. While the larger ships had the chance to make a larger profit, he found that they were pirated more and had a larger difficulty handling the nasty asteroid and debris fields. Deciding that getting through to make the profit was better than potential profit he decided on a set of ships with the Border Worlds Transport as his top choice. Its survivability and maneuverability got his cargoes to station.

After most of decade of working together with other independent traders, Samuel finally decided to form Omicron Supply Industries. He had the capital to purchase ships and equipment and the clout to broker good deals all around Sirius. Filing the charter, he started hiring. Several transport pilots came over quickly and the profits flowed. With the increase of the Nomad threat, escorts were added. OSI now keeps the standard of living at these deep stations higher than it has ever been before. Samuel looks to the future in this ever changing universe and will mold OSI to fit. Ever looking for new opportunities you can guarantee OSI will be supplying the deep space stations for a long time to come.

A few weeks prior to Samuel Nichols death, in late 817 AS, OSI relocated it's offices to Freeport 10 in Tau 37 and started up a small wing of mining-vessels, to exploit the various clouds around the station.

Shortly into 818 AS newly appointed CEO Victor Cross decided to sell off the companies mining assets as its mining operation had largely failed. He however decided to retain the profitable contract that allowed OSI transports to haul ore for the IMG and supply the IMG with basic goods. The Cornucopia, having only recently been finished was directed to the Yukon system. The Cornucopia's new mission would be the production of fighter and bomber craft to be sold to the Freeports.

In early 818 AS Freeport 10 was attacked by an artificial intelligence controlled by a traitorous ex-Zoner. The stations in operable state after the attack forced OSI to relocate its headquarters to the Cornucopia for a short time. OSI was already in the process of having a large office on Freeport 14 set up, so when this office was completed it became OSI's new home, while the Cornucopia's modifications continued.

In late 818 AS, after several issues that OSI had no control over threatened the future of the company, a decision was made to part ways with the Zoner Alliance. Now free to pursue their own interests, OSI looked to expand their services and influence separate from the other Zoner organizations.

In that same year, the decision was made to relocate the company headquarters to the Omega 49 system. An office complex was constructed on Planet Gran Canaria, on the city of Las Palmas, and Nichols Trade Center was constructed in orbit, to serve as a trade hub, and to house the advanced ship equipment factories.
Code of Conduct
  • You must follow the server rules. Minor sanction offense and you will be given a warning. Two minor offenses and you will be kicked out. A major sanction offense and you will be kicked out immediately.

  • If you have been sanctioned before, you need to inform us.

  • PvP Skills are not a necessity, RP skills are. If you do not RP very well, but show a drive to learn, we will accept you and show you the ropes of RP.

  • We are not a powertrade faction. You are expected to follow the faction's diplomacy and RP, and also to do 'inRP' runs - like between freeports - instead of only running back and forth on that same profitable route. Oh, and you are also expected to help supply Nichols Trade Center.

  • Treat other players as you would want yourself treated.

  • No out-of-roleplay messages in system chat, including those marked with '//'. Avoid using OORP chat in Local, unless an urgent situation needs to be mentioned (example, incoming disconnect, disengagement, etc). In PMs, use '//' to mark out-of-character chat.

  • Absolutely no cap ships will be part of this faction. We are a trading company.

  • Members are encouraged to make separate characters for fighters/bombers and transports.
  • OSI Transport Captain's Handbook

Identification Information & Vessel Naming Policy:
    • - All transport ships use the naming convention: OSI-Ship.Name (ex.: OSI-Gran.Canaria)

    Vessel Usage Restrictions:
    • - All civilian and Zoner ships are open use.
    • - Any ship that does no fit into the above (eg. House Transports) must first be approved by the faction leadership.

    Cargo Restrictions:
    • - Transporting the following goods is forbidden: Cardamine, Gaian Wildlife, Jump Gate/Trade Lane Parts, & Liquid Cardamine.

    Protips:
    • - You are at all times heading to a Freeport or another Zoner station if someone outside of the company asks where you are heading. If they feel the need to follow you, head to the nearest Zoner station and bid them farewell and dock. Finish the route at a later time or date. Be creative when you are feeding misinformation to people and be smart. Never reveal your true destination or any of our non Zoner contracts to those who don't need to or shouldn't know.
    • - Do not enter any Rheinland controlled systems, including Omegas 7 and 11.
    • - Do not hire independent scouts/escorts when working our non Zoner contracts. They've no need to know of our dealings.
    • - When in a convoy, there needs to be a designated Convoy Leader. This individual will deal with any piracy demands, questions, or other inquiries. Typically it will be the most senior member in the group.
    • - If you are unsure about something or have a question, ask. We might make fun of you for asking, but only because we like you. All of us, including the leadership, were in your seat at one point.
    • - There is a respawn button and credits are pixel money. Don't take being blown up too hard, you can always re-earn what was lost.
