Not because being a Vigilante isn't neat, but I mean look at this thing:

Quote:Pilot carrying this ID is a Vigilante, who :

* Can demand any non-house police or non-house military ships to drop any contraband
* Can hunt pirates and terrorists anywhere in Sirius except for the Omicron systems
* Cannot use ANY unlawful equipment or weapons (including Nomad weapons)
* Cannot ally with anyone except other Vigilantes
* Cannot attack any lawful police or lawful military except in self defense
* Cannot demand credits
* Cannot trade or escort traders
* Cannot fulfill bounty contracts
* Can only land on Bounty Hunter, Zoner, IMG, Neutral, and Freelancer bases

Allowed ships: Fighters, and Freighters

And on top of that, check it out on the tech chart.

My beef? Tons. Where to start?

1 - Cannot ally with anyone except other Vigilantes. What does this mean? It means you can't jump into a fight on the side of the police getting ganked by pirates. You "always work alone". That's a needless restriction, should be unable to ally with unlawfuls.

2 - Cannot trade or escort traders. Well sure, you're not out here to trade, but look at the last part: can't escort. So you're somebody out to enforce the law, yet you're not permitted to act in the defense of traders, or serve as escort for a convoy if you feel like it?

3 - Cannot fulfill bounty contracts. Funny, of all the ways you could potentially sustain yourself while shooting pirates, accepting bounties, even by non-police/military parties, is out of the question?

4 - Can only land on Bounty Hunter (lolwut?), Zoner, IMG, Neutral, and Freelancer bases. No sneaking onto a planet or docking at a station to discuss business with another party unless it's one of these places. Not even hanging out at a Junker base; there's worse visitors there than vigilantes. Besides, cause trouble and they boot you regardless.

5 - Now for the tech chart. Civilian (Sirius Wide) and Border Worlds are the ONLY slots available. Everything else is flat out red, not white, Red. Forced SRPs all across the board, whereas with white you can ask factions for most things.

6 - No Civilian Bretonian/Libertonian/Rheinland/Kusari? Huh? No Zoner weapons. I've seen Zoner weapons being used by pirate gunboats, for Christ's sake, why are these a red cell? No Bounty Hunter weapons. At least, not even a white cell. Bounty Hunters are quasi-vigilantes at times, and they should have excess junk to sell. Why not?

This ID is a worthless and unnecessary restriction on all sorts of gameplay let alone roleplay. You can achieve the same goals with an incredibly larger amount of leeway based on these rules with just a Freelancer ID. All that's different is the name. Seriously? This ID is worth a million credits? It should either be modified or removed.
Well, although it had many restrictions I decided that instead of complaining, I tried to find a way to make it work (rare thing in this place). Then again, you got some valid points.

There is my attempt.

Didn't last long. Not due to lack of interest or bad activity. We had both, simply because I felt I wanted to focus on the Yakuza instead and nobody else wanted to take the leadership position.

Basically all I saw with this ID was "Get a Sabre, pull codenames out of your butt, PVP solo or with buddies." That's literally all this thing lets you do.

What I saw with this ID was to have a zealous group that isn't exactly lawful but want to enforce justice with a passion. This producing complex relationships with the lawful authorities and yet retain a rather one-dimensional approach towards criminals. Which might be a bad thing in itself but then again, we did have certain leniency on some groups.

Figuring out how to deal with the restrictions pure vessel/equipment wise came second-hand. And really, I had three pilots who could use those Flashpoints pretty darn well to be quite honest.

When I saw this ID I thought "Austin Goodman". Too bad; he'd be banned by now.
Hey Guys,

The only problem I have with the vigilante id is that it's lawful. Vigilantes are never lawful. They break all sorts of laws up to and including attacking corrupt authorities and business firms. Since the id doesn't allow these actions, it's pretty useless. I have a character just waiting for the id to go semi-lawful. I have to use a pirate id on the character now and that doesn't fit it's rp right at all.

You know, I put a lot of thought into what ID to use with my character Austin Goodman, and the one that actually worked out best was the Freelancer ID, due to the limitations set forth by the Vigilante one. But yes, thank you Vogel for stating I would be banned by now if I was using the Vigilante ID. >_>
I still have an ambition to one day make a Shadow with a vigilante ID, call it Batman and go around hunting the Joker and his thugs.
Maybe have an Arrow with bright red lights called Robin as a sidekick...
Yeah its kinda useless.

I would allow to help the police, to escort, land on junker bases. and Make the miliatry stuff a white cell. If I'm an ex-police/military then i should be able to keep my old ship/guns. (if I decided to wrok alone, I grab my ship and say to my police mates: NO U")

You know what I mean. Things you did, ships you flew, weapons you shot. Not saying you'd blatantly break rules and get banned but you couldn't do anything that you did with this worthless ID.

Anyway, it's unanimous so far; this ID needs some serious re-tooling. Between tech rights and in-game rights, it does 'not' allow for a fun playing experience, and can be substituted by the ambiguous Freelancer ID right from the start.
